Yeah, she's only had to do that with a few cats out of the many, MANY cats she's had over the years. After a while it's just really obvious that maybe they'd be better off in a home all by themselves.
Otis is a perfect example of that. The other cats were picking on him and all of his rotten teeth were hurting him, so when my parents gave him to me he was a three-year-old cat with gray fur who didn't want anyone anywhere near him. Now he's gotten all his bad teeth pulled, he's twice as dark (see icon), and he follows me EVERYWHERE. Not to mention how happy he gets when somebody comes to visit. :)
