She wasn't "fair" and wasn't a virgin and was damn well proud of it. Though the series often regulated her to "Hailing frequencies open" most of the time, she's had the chance to shine in books. Plus she was happy to risk her career to save a friend when she pulled a phaser on another Starfleet officer and forced him into a closet.
