Okay, that's it.

Tell me something awesome about a woman you love in any fandom. Wax poetic. I want to hear people talk about what they love about female characters. And try to pick female characters or women in RPF who haven't already gotten love so we can spread it around.

And no bashing other people's comments!

You know what? I'm picking Boo. Yeah, okay, she's a very tiny woman. Who cares? She's silly and fun and adorable, and looking at an icon of her always makes me feel better, and she learns how to be brave right before our eyes. I heart that so much that I really wish I had the time to rewatch Monsters Inc. before I leave for work, but I don't, damn it.

Now you go. :)

EDIT: Guys, if you want to do more than one character, go nuts. The more, the merrier, right? \o/

Nyota Uhura from Star Trek: TOS. When Sulu grabbed her in "The Naked Time" and said "I'll protect you, fair maiden," she responded with "Sorry, neither." She wasn't "fair" and wasn't a virgin and was damn well proud of it. Though the series often regulated her to "Hailing frequencies open" most of the time, she's had the chance to shine in books. Plus she was happy to risk her career to save a friend when she pulled a phaser on another Starfleet officer and forced him into a closet.

Seconded. I love her so much. She is lovely, warm, friendly, capable, smart, competent, charming, and clearly defined. I still want to become as awesome as her.

Yes! Sure, ST:TOS had it's problems, but given the limitations of the time period and the medium, Uhura was BRILLIANT. And the movies made me love her even more. She was a wonderful role model for me as a baby trekkie.

Best Uhura novel is 'Uhura's Song'. Bonus, it has furries in it.
