apocalypsos: (boo misbehave)

Okay, that's it.

Tell me something awesome about a woman you love in any fandom. Wax poetic. I want to hear people talk about what they love about female characters. And try to pick female characters or women in RPF who haven't already gotten love so we can spread it around.

And no bashing other people's comments!

You know what? I'm picking Boo. Yeah, okay, she's a very tiny woman. Who cares? She's silly and fun and adorable, and looking at an icon of her always makes me feel better, and she learns how to be brave right before our eyes. I heart that so much that I really wish I had the time to rewatch Monsters Inc. before I leave for work, but I don't, damn it.

Now you go. :)

EDIT: Guys, if you want to do more than one character, go nuts. The more, the merrier, right? \o/

Two women I love.

Nani from Lilo & Stitch. She's trying to raise her sister after their parents die, and she's not really ready to be a parent, and she works so hard to keep them together and to keep their home. And then, not only is Lilo a stubborn, imaginative child who gets into crazy scrapes, but then her dog is an ALIEN and they are in the middle of this crazy inter-galactic situation, and Nani likes David but doesn't have time for romance, and all she wants is to keep her family together. She's amazing.

Eden from Blue Crush. She's the best friend trying to make sure Anne Marie doesn't waste an incredible opportunity. She's not afraid to admit she gets jealous, when AM is better at their shared sport, and she's not afraid to be the bad guy, the one who points out it's a waste of talent for AM to blow off the competition for a tourist who, no matter how nice he might seem, will leave. She pushes so hard, and takes abuse from AM, and still helps take care of their family. She puts her own dreams (her boards) on hold, shoves them into the wee hours of the morning, in order to train with AM, and work a crappy job to help pay bills, and to help raise AM's sister.

Nani! Oh my God, I cried like a baby when she took Lilo to the hummock to tell her the social workers were going to take her away in the morning, and ended up singing to her instead. Her frustration and helplessness was so realistic. Nani was awesome.

One of the eighty-four billion reasons Nani is awesome because she is awesome without an inflated chest. And the hips. Rrrow.

Plus the episode where she makes sure Lilo knows it is bad to go back in time.

Oh, yes! I saw someone had posted about Lilo on the last page and I commented with my love for Nani. I'm so glad she gets her own little comment thread!

Nani really is so great, for all those reasons.

I even love the style of cartooning they used! The women have REAL shapes. They've got HIPS and THIGHS and and are not pin sticks like Ariel and Cinderella and all the rest.
