Rambling about books and writing and stuff
So I've ordered a used copy of the book that got me started writing by being one of the worst books I've ever read. I really want to see if it's as bad as I remember it being, which from the looks of it it totally will be.
I also actually let myself take a look at the Kindle, which I already knew I probably wouldn't be able to afford and didn't really want confirmed because it just reminds me how broke I am. And yeah, okay, there's no way I'm getting one of those unless Santa brings me one for Christmas. See, this is why I don't look at Wiis or a Nintendo DS or shop for digital camcorders. Le sigh.
Rewatching last night's Colbert Report makes me want to read Salman Rushdie's new novel.
So, yeah, I haven't written anything all weekend long. Which sucks because I had three stories to work on and all kinds of great big plans and ... nothin'. Nothing on the novel I've already got almost halfway done, nothing on the two I've been planning on starting. I think the week just started out crappy and it didn't really get any better. No amusement park -- and can I just say that I'm really dreading going into work because I'll bet you any money that they dick us over and say that we should have hung back and waited for the park to open in the pouring goddamn rain? -- lousy weather, having to use my Wincon money to help pay my rent and using up an extra vacation day to keep from getting screwed out of my big fat paycheck from last week. It's really bothering me that I'm letting outside influences drive me nuts to the point where I can't write right now, 'cause it's not like I'm having a hard time coming up with ideas.
And of course now my urge to write is coming back just in time for me to have to go to work again. Ugh.
Also, I need a haircut. I hate the middle ground between that really cute short close-cropped haircut and the bob.
