Hey, look, more politics.

President Bush has asked both Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama to join him for a meeting at the White House Thursday afternoon to discuss the economic bailout plan, a White House officials said.

Strangely enough, I think it's a good idea. It fulfills what they both want and does so -- hopefully -- in a way that won't end in any of the debates being postponed or cancelled.

Granted, at this point I think talking to Bush about bailing out Wall Street is a wee bit like talking to the kid who nailed your mailbox with a baseball bat about why you should invest in a P.O. box now.

I was actually very impressed that Bush invited the both of them, which just goes to show you how low his bar actually is. He seemed genuinely shaken in his speech, and you know he has to be rattled if he's stepping out of Shrub Land long enough to seriously entertain the idea that Obama might be president come November and need to know all that he can in order to be prepared for his inheritance.

Okay. Contemplating the idea of Bush playing Obi-Wan to Obama's Skywalker is causing my brain to crash, but I can see how he might think that's what he's doing.

Personally, I am now on ZOMG PARANOID ALERT and will be until I hear that an election has taken place and been fairly counted.

Yeah that pretty much took care of that whole issue. I still don't feel they need to be the faces of the senate and attract all the media up there, taking away from the issue at hand, though.
