Random stuff

-- They're canceling Guiding Light. Witness my complete lack of surprise. The stories lately, as much as I've seen of them, have sucked (with Reva's cancer-filled medical history and age, her uterus shouldn't have a fetus in it, it should look like the wasteland in the opening scenes of The Terminator), but what really made me never want to watch again was when they switched away from normal filming to the handheld camera bullshit.

-- Squeeze bacon!

-- I know I pick on Taylor Momsen's hair and addiction to microscopic skirts -- God knows she might as well wear them while she can -- but every time I see a picture of her, I wonder how much higher it would have to be for me to see her shamecave.

-- 6 Historical Villains Who Were Actually OK Guys

-- OH GOOD LORD. They're making the Anita Blake books into a TV show?! Nobody tells me anything. Hmph.

-- Oh, and guess who might be replacing Zac Efron in the Footloose remake? Chace Crawford. I still don't approve of remaking it, but I'd rather have him than Zac Efron. Zac Efron just strikes me as soooo wrong for that role.

-- Paul Bettany's starring in the adaptation of the comic book Priest, about "a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece." Okay, Paul Bettany + that plot description = me, sexually gratified, at least for the moment.

-- My laptop has been acting really wonky so I'm restoring the damn thing from scratch. Thank God for my netbook, is all I'm saying.

-- I only wrote 11k words last month. Which, hey, is still about 2k more than I wrote the month before but I'm still way behind where I'm supposed to be right now. This month, I'm just going to try and get a thousand words a day. That's it. I should be able to do that much, even if I have to spread it out over two or three different stories. It's not like I have anything else to do, right? *sigh*

-- The internet is taking too damn long to give me the new episode of PR Canada, but I spoiled myself with Wikipedia anyway. OH THANK FUCK. I don't know what Jason was doing this episode, but it couldn't have been worse than the way Crazy Bug Eyes has behaved all damn season so far, so I'm glad it's Sunny-Jessica-Jason. As long as Sunny and Jessica were there, though, I'm happy.

-- Also, thank God for you, Bryan Fuller. THANK GOD FOR YOU. I miss Pushing Daisies like crazy (and now I crave pie), but the last couple of episodes have definitely been better than the rest of the season.

I personally want the Tauntaun sleeping bag. The organ-patterned interior's key.

Have you read Chris Sims's reviews of every Anita Blake comic book? Fantastic stuff:

(I would highly suggest ignoring today's content. Apr 1 changed the site into a Tarot fansite. Disturbing doesn't begin do describe...)

....I am disturbed by the word "shamecave".

I think Taylor's legs would have to STOP at some point in order for you to see the shamecave. My gods, I am so damn envious of her and Stacey Keebler.

Also, I am alternately horrified and fascinated at the Blake movie. Like I said on my journal, I want to know who is going to play Jason. There aren't a lot of 5'3" hot blond guys who could pull him off. Or Nathaniel. JC. Asher... shit, they're going to have to CGI half the cast.

Well, if this season of PRC follows the pattern of the first season (and PRAus), Jason's totally finishing in third place :P

When my sister was nine or ten and she was obsessed with guiding light, my mom once told her it'd been canceled, as an april fool's day joke. this timing is almost too good. :( still, rip, GL, I remember when you were awesome.

Aw, I remember "Guiding Light" from when I was a kid. Total sentimental attachment to it and Y&R, which were the soaps mom watched every day, so I got into it too. Even my husband watched the Tom & Margo & Mr Big storyline back when he was in high school.

Uhm? This sounds like wank just waiting to happen.

*glances out the window at the weather* Raining. Yep, my grandmother is bawling her eyes out in heaven over GL. *sighs* It's on in the mornings here instead of the afternoon because of that asswipe Dr. Phil and I stopped watching after I kept falling asleep in the middle. My last full episode was in the old style of shooting - I think they'd just brought in Gus's ex-wife and kid? About three months later I turned it on so I could watch while I ate -- about fell out of my chair with the horror of the new cameras and never watched since.

Longest running daytime serial in history and they royally fucked it. Didn't even use lube for Goddess'sake.

RIP Guiding Light. You were my favorite immediately-after-school show. I still remember Lujack. I still remember Billy being hypnotized. I still mourn for the Four Musketeers - R/M/B/P. I remember the first time Reba died so the actress could work on MacGuyver. *raises a glass* See you on SoapNet! Salud! *slams the Coke shot*

*moment of silence*

In other news, http://community.livejournal.com/lkh_lashouts/ is the place to go for Anita Blake books/movie news. They were talking about this a few weeks ago.

Anyone on my flist remember the meltdown I had over the Vampire Diaries on The CW? Yeah, same day I found out about Anita. Excuse me while I go have another freak out because I still haven't figured out how to tell my niece that her father will never let her watch VD for the same reasons she can't watch GG-90210.

*wanders off*

My only remark about GL, and I know it can't happen because the older stuff wasn't kept--

Re: Bettany movie. Finally, someone has listened my my prayers and/or stalkerish project pitching. Bettany was one of the very few things to make Da Vinci Code tolerable, so we know he does religious well. That and I'd watch him in anything. And vampires.

The GL cancelation wasn't a shock - they've been talking about pulling the plug for at least a decade, or so it seems to me - and I stopped caring about it when the mob storylines started and stopped watching entirely a few years later, but it was the first soap I ever really loved (I was watching ATWT pretty regularly before that) and at its height it was the best soap I've ever seen. I still have not recovered from their firing of Michael Zaslow, and the spiral the show's been in since then feels a little like retribution.

And I'm STILL sad. Stupid show. Stupid CBS.
