Police say a motorcyclist participating in a protest ride against helmet laws in upstate New York died after he flipped over the bike's handlebars and hit his head on the pavement.

Unsurprisingly, the story says that the state troopers told the reporter that the guy would have probably survived if he were wearing a helmet.

I really don't get the "I don't have to wear a helmet!" brigade, seriously. Except I do, because this country is filled with people who will throw a temper tantrum about having the freedom to do what they want because America is a free country, even if what they want to do is stupid, useless, dangerous, and/or cruel.

Apparently I've signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo this month.

The Sneak:

I'm not getting my hopes up, just because I know my success record with these is pretty lousy, but I've got a thousand words already, which is more than I've written in quite a while.

Writing is hard.

I literally have no idea where I'm going with this story. I have no plot, I have no other characters save the two I started out with, I have no mythology or anything.

What I do have is 1,373 words.

I'm going to keep going until I reach 2,000 words and then maybe ... you know, plan something.
