Quick question ...

Does it make me a terrible person that every time I'm at the cafe on a Sunday and the post-church crowd filters in for their Bible discussion, I feel the sudden urge to read and/or write extremely smutty porn?

I'm going to end up popping over to the kink meme and writing something terribly porny if they stay much longer.

You're just trying to bring balance to the universe. ;)

I think that it is the same impulse that makes me want to eat burgers in front of people with "Meat is murder" t-shirts.

Well, on the upside you'd be writing something which might help clear the writer's block you've been talking about. So, that would make it a good thing, yes?

Heh. I always seem to bring a book with questionable cover art (Spider Robinson's Callahan's Lady) to read in the waiting room while my Dad's having a doctor's appointment, when the waiting room always turns out to be full of nuns.

if by 'terrible person' you mean pornaliciously awesome!

Why not? The world always needs more smutty porn. :D

I'll be braving the after-church crowd for breakfast armed with my copy of The Family by Jeff Sharlet, so I'll be sorta joining you? lol

No, no, no. *Stage* it. Reading is not sufficient; should assemble the full cast and act it out. If the coffeehouse doesn't have a stage, we can build one for them.

best,

Joel

Are you kidding? Those folks have the dirtiest minds. You're just tapping into their repressed subconscious desires. LET YOUR FREAK FLAG FLY!! :D (Also, share what you write!)

XD THAT IS AWESOME! I would feel the same way!

Just going to ask the question: Why do you feel this way? Because the post-church crowd has just as much right to their Bible discussions as you have to your porn. If you don't want to listen to them, walk away. But don't use your writing as a way to spite people who haven't done anything wrong--and are probably not even aware that their topic of discussion bothers you.
