YouTube is conspiring against my Facebook-bombing.

So remember how I said that a lot of the people I went to high school with who are now on Facebook turned out to be hardcore conservatives?

Yeah, knowing that, you can imagine I've been avoiding Facebook the past few days.

But yesterday I peeked and found one of my old high school friends posting a pro-HCR bill comment and I commented happily, and the sister of one of my best friends from high school -- their family is Swedish and they still have relatives back there -- got to talking with me, and it was really nice to know that my atheist socialist ass wasn't some weird aberration or something.

Aaaaaand then I went and posted An open letter to conservatives and made a couple of snarky comments about how horrible it is that I know people online who can finally get health insurance again and got really pissed off because I can't access BBC videos on YouTube and I wanted to post the clip of Russell Howard telling Palin, "Here's a ball, go and bounce it, you MORON," and say that's how I've felt inside the past few days.

Eh, one step forward, two steps back, I suppose. Heh. It's like I'm pre-trolling my high school reunion. :D

If there's one thing I find myself grateful for the past few years, it's that my immediate family is delightfully left-wing. Granted, they temper that with occasional bouts of thinly veiled or not-veiled at all racism, but ... baby steps, I suppose.

I am astonishingly happy for my family of atheist gun nuts who believe in public health and a woman's right to choose.

There's some homophobia. And a random dash of racism. But considering my parents grew up in the segregated south? I'm pretty proud of them.
