Boy, you just BARELY got away with that.
So Otis has been scratching himself constantly lately -- I thought fleas, but I didn't find a one anywhere on him, so now the theory is just dry skin gone too far -- so my mom suggested a few things to try to help, because he's been leaving little scabs all over his neck and head. One of these was a bath with her flea shampoo with cats just in case.
For the record, Otis does not have baths. And he's not a cat who's a big fan of water, either.
I spent the day at the lake with my family, so when I came home I stopped, got the shampoo, and came back home to run a bath for the cat. Otis had no idea something was up, not even when I got him, brought him into the bathroom, and closed the doors to make sure he couldn't make a run for it.
All in all, he was fairly well-behaved. He yowled a bit and tried to get out, but nothing major. I scrubbed him all over good, then let the water out and let him wander around the bathroom shaking off the excess water (and looking like a drowned rat in the process) before opening the bathroom door to let him out.
He looked so silly -- I mean, he normally looks unkempt, but REALLY -- that I went to call Bryan and tell him the cat looked like a capybara with an uneven haircut. I was sitting in the living room with my cell phone talking to him when Otis walked into the living room, hopped up onto my bed/futon/couch, gave me a dirty look, and proceeded to pee right in the middle of it before flouncing off.
I died laughing. Hey, at least he peed on sheets and a mattress pad, not a carpet.
