(no subject)

I was just finishing up my little Lost crossover story and was seriously sliding the mouse up to save the file when the power went out and there went all my work.

RAGE RAGE RAGE. *throws things*

*flies around the earth really fast to turn back time and tell you to save 30 seconds earlier*

A few suggestions

1) Save early, save often
2) Look into the concept of a UPS.

Times like that make me happy I have a laptop - battery power!

But yeah, major suckage! :( Sometimes I kick the power cord (accidentally) on my work computer and the computer shuts down. Most of the time I don't lose anything important. ... Most of the time.

If it's a computer that's Pre windows XP you actually have a pretty good chance it's in your tempfiles. It won't be named like you named it but you might be able to save it.
Good luck :/

Ugh, I'm so sorry! A few years ago the disk I'd been using to hold all my WIP fics died without warning. I totally empathize.

Funny, this was one of the last entries I read on my flist this morning before the power went out where I live. (X-ref my most recent entry.)

Do you have autosave active in Word? If you do then the file is still there. Restart MS Word and the file should appear; the only thing missing will be what was written after the last AutoSave.

That's why I save every 5 seconds. Shouldn't it have an auto-save though, so when you turn it back on and open word, it re-appears in a side-bar?
