Why do I rent such a huge damn apartment?

Okay, this is mostly so that I can check off the rooms in the apartment as I clean them, and I'm putting the list here so that if I slack off, over a thousand people can slap me upside the head and say, "Clean the bathroom, dumbass!" Heh.

Rooms to clean:

Living room
Main Bedroom
Spare bedroom
Kitchen
Bathroom
Office
Foyer
Stairs/First-floor landing

No, seriously, why do I rent an apartment this big again? My parents' house has this many rooms, for Pete's sake. *headdesk*

My housecleaning strategy? Go into a room. Set an alarm for 15 mins. Focus and try to make the biggest impact possible in that time. When the alarm goes off, finish the small task you were doing (like wiping a counter or sweep the dust into the dust pan). Then stop. Take a 15 min break (again with the timer). Pick a new room. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Oh, if I did that I'd never make it back to the original room. I have to focus on one room at a time, and I'm not allowed to do things like think about how the cat litter needs cleaning while I'm in the kitchen or how the clean clothes need to be put away while I'm scrubbing out the chin's cage.

And my office is ALWAYS last. With my computer and my books in there, if I do it anytime other than last I end up getting distracted and spending far too long in there.

WOW You do have a huge apartment! We have two bedrooms and two bathrooms, but the rest is a big open space of kitchen/living area.

I have the entire upstairs of the building for four hundred bucks a month. I could get a roommate and end up only paying three hundred bucks when you include electric and water and everything else, but NO MINE ALL MINE YAY. :)

WOW. For our place which is pretty small we pay $850 just in rent, plus heating, elect etc.

Damn seacoast INSANE prices! We need to move out of the area so it'll cost less.

Heh. The perks of living in a teeny little town in the middle of nowhere. *beams*

Sometimes I really wish I did ;)

Next weekend is our town festival and since I'm on Main Street the parade goes right past my living room window. So I can go down the block and get summer fair food and lug it back to my nice big apartment with the fan and the shade and watch from my front room. :)

YUM :) That sounds really nice.

*smiles happily at your list*
Although I think the last time I heard details of your flat, it sounded like a walk-in closet.
*smiles a bit more at it instead of looking at 15yr old paperpiles in slight-less-rooms-but-not-much.

I envy you.

I'm paying $1166 (includes heat and hot water) for 850 square feet.

That's a bedroom, bathroom, galley kitchen and a living/dining room combo. I have to use the shared laundry room.

I'd love to have more space. I not planning on renewing my lease.

Go you! Having cleaned the bathroom, the worst is over. :)

Also, you rent level makes me weep. I pay £400 (that's at least $800, right?) a month for ONE ROOM in a shared flat, not even in London. Damn insane housing market...
