Well, that's nice to wake up to.

Alberto Gonzales resigned. Good riddance.

Oh, and I found out when I ran out for groceries that tomorrow is the first day of school around here. I'm such a mean lady. I want to run up to some little kid around here and say, "Hey, you want to go to the zoo tomorrow? Oh, wait, you can't, you have school." Not that I don't like school or kids, there's just a certain point towards the end of summer when I'm like, "They're going back to school and away from me soon, right?" *shrugs*

And I watched the entirety of High School Musical before because I was too lazy to change the channel. I ... don't get it. I mean, it's not completely dreadful or anything, and far be it from me to knock anybody else's Disney Channel fandom when I'm gleefully give up an entire day to watch a Halloweentown marathon, but I ... just don't get it. I don't get what the big deal is or why it's more entertaining than any other of Disney's cheesy but mildly entertaining TV movies. Although I do find it amusing that at the end of the movie when Zac Efron and the cute girl he's got a crush on dance off into ... uh, half-court, and his buddy dances off with her buddy that he just asked out, the blond chick dances off with her twin brother. Uh, okay, Disney.

Er, it's possible I'm feeling a bit bitchy today. Did I mention the writer's block is still going strong? *sigh*

yeah, I was forced to watch HSM with my stepdaughter last weekend for a bit and caught the last few minutes of that movie. I heard the line from Ferris Bueller in my head "so THAT's how it is in that family ..." when they went dancing off together.

"Hey, you want to go to the zoo tomorrow? Oh, wait, you can't, you have school."

That's kinda awesome.

Sadly, I honestly think it's because we're too old. I think it's one of those things that you absolutely have to watch at exactly the right age to become obsessed with. (For me, it was Grease 2 at 14, which I still adore despite knowing how very not good it is.) Also, the chemistry between the two leads was ridiculously good, which kept my attention longer than it really should have.

The siblings are, however, creepy. Oh yes. :)

Family love is wholesome! High school theater is completely free of everything resembling sex! (Just don't ask about the cast party.)

Gonzales' resignation was the best political news I'd heard in a while.

That is my very favorite part of HSM. I loved that kid because he was dopy and either gay or sleeping with his sister, and so didn't belong in a Disney movie.

either gay or sleeping with his sister

YES! Exactly! Those were the only two options I could come up, because he was definitely not straight and he spent more time with his bitchy (albeit pretty) sister than he did with any other girl in the entire movie.

I don't get the High School Musical thing either. I have co-workers who are obsessed. It was, as you said, cute but not cuter than any other Disney made-for-TV.

I wouldn't be surprised if that crew o' kids turned into 200X's Mickey Mouse Club, though--y'know, the show that spawned Justin Timberlake AND Britney Spears AND Christina Aguliera AND Keri Russell, et cetera ad nauseam. They're adorable and reasonably talented and all that.

Did anybody else think that Gay Incest Brother had a Macauly Caulkin vibe to him?

Oh, amen. I watch THSM and I saw nothing special. OK, I was annoyed at the most of it, bt I figured it was just me, since a lot of people seem to effing love that movie.

I think it's, like, their punishment for being the foes...they get no romantic interest. Or something.

(Although Pru is writing a fabulous post-2 slash fic with twin brother/Efrons-buddy)
