Spotted on IMDb ...

Jennifer Love Hewitt has hit back at critics who ridiculed her for putting on weight - by showing off her new slimline figure in a U.S. magazine.

The Ghost Whisperer star was infamously snapped in her black two-piece swimsuit as she enjoyed a dip in the sea in November, sporting a slightly bulkier frame than usual.

The weight-gain attracted much unwanted attention, with celebrity website TMZ.com profiling the snaps alongside the headline: "We know what you ate this summer, Love . everything!"

And the star went on to lash out at the media, saying, "It made me feel a little embarrassed to be honest. It made me a little sad. It hurt my feelings."

But Love-Hewitt has had the last laugh, after shedding 18 pounds (8.16 kilograms) through a rigorous exercise programme.

She tells Usmagazine.Com, "I am in a pretty good workout regimen that I like, so it inspired me to keep it up. The energy level and the way I feel now is great."

And Love Hewitt's trainer, Stevie Sant'Angelo, insists the dramatic image overhaul has nothing to do with the unflattering snaps.

He adds, "She told me, 'They said some rude, mean things, but that's not why I wanted to change.'"

I ... don't really understand how that's "hitting back" at them. "I'll show you! By ... uh, losing the extra few pounds you hated and said I should lose!"

I think Lisa Marie Presley hit back at the tabloid reactions to her weight much better myself. Having really hot pictures taken of yourself when you're heavily pregnant with twins because a bunch of asshats at the tabloids said she was starting to look like Fat Elvis? That seems like more of a successful FU to the media to me. But then again, maybe I'm nuts.

No, you are not nuts. Because this form of "hitting back" is also terrible for impressionable girls everywhere - "See girls, whenever anyone says you're fat, make sure you take their opinion as gospel and devote your entire life to losing weight from then on."

*smacks her*

::headdesk:: Lisa Marie absolutely had the correct response.

This is so depressing. Wouldn't it be nice if our female celebrities could actually be something heavier than skeletally thin?

Not even a little nuts.

I just. FUCK. *quiet wrath*

Dude, seriously. Look at that photo. She looks so hot there. And God, I love when people piss Lisa Marie Presley off, 'cause she NEVER takes shit from anybody.

She looks *gorgeous*, omg. I'm a little sad that she's not on the cover though, because how awesome would that be?

Lord, the universe needs more women like her. Seriously, we need to start standing up to the bullshit, or it's never gonna stop.

Another thing that's bothering me, beside the "Oh, she showed them by losing weight! That's such a FU" is that the media connects her losing weight to what other people said. Maybe she wanted to lose weight because she didn't feel comfortable with her body the way it was. It happens.

But hey, of course women don't have their own opinion about their bodies.

They told a pregnant woman that she looked fat? WTF?

A woman pregnant with twins, no less.

Yeah, I was...fairly disappointed in her when I read that, too. Uh, she was a size four--maybe a six--(I call bullshit on her size two claim) at five-four. She didn't need to lose weight. She had a BMI of 21, 22 at the outside. It's complete horseshit that she's complying with the Hollywood definition of an appropriate weight after being so strong and admirable prior to that.

Yeah, I saw a picture of JLH and thought it was one of those "look how ill she is."

I'm willing to believe that an exercise regime was good for her. Hey, almost all of us look (and feel) better when we're toned and smooth. But there is no way that she needed to lose pounds or inches.
