What does it say about my writing style ...

... that I had a plotbunny for a new novel last night, and it's very serious and grown-up and Afterschool Special and whatnot, but what first struck me is that what separates it from most of my other novel ideas right now is that there are no magically communicative pets in it?

Oprah's Book Club? Nah, that could be funny too.

There's really nothing funny about this story idea. And absolutely no urban fantasy like normal. I think writing this is going to alternately piss me off and depress the hell out of me, and yet I'm dying to start working on it.
