Americans safer with Saddam in prison: Bush

It's not the obvious naivete of that statement that gets me. It's this sentence -- Two Bush opponents, taken out of the crowd in restraints by police, said they were told they couldn't be there because they were wearing shirts that said they opposed the president.

*sings sarcastically* Oh, I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free ... *gags because I was singing that nauseating song*

Anyone else find it as pathetic as I do that the president is so sensitive he can't even take criticism in the form of a couple of T-shirts?

EDIT: You know, I think I get more irritated by fireworks on July Fourth because I'm probably one of the few Americans who doesn't expect them that night. My hometown never has fireworks on the fourth of July, because they're saving their fireworks money so they can have them the last weekend of July into the beginning of August when they have their little town carnival. So my usual reaction to July Fourth fireworks is, "Dude, lay off! It's too bloody soon for this!"

You know how when you're adding stuff to your Amazon wish list, and afterwards they say, "Other customers who added that to their wish list added this, this and this"? That's both helpful and a vicious taunt. And last night, I got bored and added a huge stack of TV DVD box sets to the list. I seriously need to tell anyone who asks what I want to just give me Amazon gift certificates for my birthday in two and a half months so that I can go mad nuts on those box sets. (And yes, I still count down to my birthday like a toddler.)

Also, lugged my laundry around just now looking for washing machines no one was using. I'm pretty sure that's enough exercise to last me the rest of the month, especially considering that I have so much dirty laundry I could pile it just so and make a colorful play fort.

I'm so incredibly bored and sorely tempted to do another Q&A review. Right now, I'm wavering between Armageddon, Deep Impact, Titanic, The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

*sigh* I think I need to get a life.

EDIT: You know, washing laundry's not half bad. I mean, it's a chore, so it's kinda boring, but then again, it's not vacuuming or dusting, which I loathe. Just wanted to say that.

Hell, I'm probably going to do all of them at this rate, but let's do this.

[Poll #316733]

EDIT: I think I'm going to wait for the battery for the DVD player to power up, then go down to the pool and watch "Pirates" (which seems to be winning) while I sun myself. I'm pretty sure the people at the pool are going to think I'm on crack, but whatever.

Then later on, which movie comes in second, and a four-pack of Bartles and Jaymes. Mmmm.

Are you a literary abuser? )

EDIT: Here's one they left out ... I was voted Class Bookworm in my high school yearbook. How about the rest of you?

Eh, screw the pool. I'm going to go buy booze and watch "Pirates".

EDIT: WOW. I didn't even think about how apt that icon is, I swear.

Watching the "Titanic" trailer so that I can finish eating dinner before I watch the movie. *snerk* I forgot how much seeing the trailer made me want to see the movie way back when. *end history geek mode*
