Americans safer with Saddam in prison: Bush

It's not the obvious naivete of that statement that gets me. It's this sentence -- Two Bush opponents, taken out of the crowd in restraints by police, said they were told they couldn't be there because they were wearing shirts that said they opposed the president.

*sings sarcastically* Oh, I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free ... *gags because I was singing that nauseating song*

Anyone else find it as pathetic as I do that the president is so sensitive he can't even take criticism in the form of a couple of T-shirts?

EDIT: You know, I think I get more irritated by fireworks on July Fourth because I'm probably one of the few Americans who doesn't expect them that night. My hometown never has fireworks on the fourth of July, because they're saving their fireworks money so they can have them the last weekend of July into the beginning of August when they have their little town carnival. So my usual reaction to July Fourth fireworks is, "Dude, lay off! It's too bloody soon for this!"

I would agree with that statement, but I don't think I'm allowed to anymore.

Well, you don't know what the t-shirts really said. Maybe they said "I fucking oppose the goatfucking hosebag shithead loser, Bush, and all his asshat policies," and Bush, in all his EXTREME MORAL DIGNITY, was offended by the blatant use of expletives.

No, I don't believe it, either.
Thanks for the link - nice to stay on top of the violation of rights in your country.

I was too busy vomiting over his earlier statements that freedom is the "gift of Almighty God" to the entire world -- the implication being that we were the Christian God's holy agents to force...I mean, *GIVE*...that gift to the poor unenlightened masses.

The man obviously feels he had a calling as a preacher...the behaviorial restrictions must have been too much for him to handle.

"Our immediate task in battle fronts like Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere is to capture or kill the terrorists ... so we do not have to face them here at home," Bush told a cheering crowd outside the West Virginia Capitol. An enthusiastic audience of 5,000 people waving American flags chanted, "Four more years.''

5000 people isn't even big enough for an 'intrest group' ... and thinking on it, where they heck did they find that many people willing to cheer for him? I wonder how many were actors? *snark*

Making a pitch for votes in a state where 200,000 veterans comprise 15 percent of the population, Bush praised veterans for ``setting a good example for those who have followed ... in Afghanistan and Iraq," said Bush. Thirty-six percent of all male West Virginians fought in World War II, 16 percent in Korea and 20 per cent in Vietnam.

And all of them have lost their benifits. Is Bush mad? He really thinks he's going to sway them with a assinine smile and a slap on the back?

This is a great artical :)

I certainly hope they'll remember the amount of respect Bush REALLY has for them (as evidenced by the loss of benefits and whatnot) and not fall again for this "Conservatives love the members of the military!" shit.

All West Virginia vets lost their benefits? Or just got them cut. Because if it was all lost, why would http://www.state.wv.us/va/ exist?

Sorry, poor wording. All vets had their benifits 'cut'.

In restraints! For wearing a tee shirt! This country is in a lot of trouble.

I'd bet good money this ends up being a repeat of that case in New England, where a guy was evicted from the mall 'for his t-shirt'. As in, political opinion. It was only later we learned he was harrassing people.

Of course it was just for the t-shirts. Because they oh-so-weren't causing a scene or disruption or anything. They were kicked out for the t-shirts.

Ok, ok, ok, -maybe- they were but I think that was the tiniest possibillity. I'm positive they did something more then just wear anti-bush shirts.

I responded to the upsurge in patriotic sentiment on the 4th as I have for the past several years -- by wearing a Union Jack T-shirt. On the way home from going to see Fahrenheit 9/11 it occurred to me that the "Jesus loves you.... problems remained" T-shirt with the pic of the PLO guys on the front would have been even more appropriate -- but also likely to get me arrested here in Texas...
