I may have gone out and bought a tarantula.

Its name is Toby.

Oh, and I got to hold a boa while I was there.

Also, the pet store guy tried to see if I wanted a big old black scorpion and words cannot describe how much NONONONO was involved there.

... yeah, and then I took a giant spider home, so where the hell do I get off?

BOA. If I didn't have trouble with the whole frozen rodents thing, I would be ALL OVER a snake.

See, I have no problem whatsoever with the frozen rodents thing. The only problem I ever have with pets is, "Venomous or stinging, and I will probably not be doing a lot of touching." (I'm taking it step by step with Toby.)

The pet store guy was awesome, telling me about all of the tarantulas and scorpions and snakes he's had. He told me about this one friend who had a snake large enough that he had to feed it guinea pigs, and I was like, "Yeah, I don't want a snake that can grow much longer than I am tall."

Oh, wow, big hairy spider! I'm a bit 'not sure if want' at this end, but I'm really happy you have a new pet. (Toby Tarantula!) Do you ever get to know if Toby is male or female?

The guy who got Toby out of the cage was fairly knowledgeable about tarantulas -- from the sound of things, he's got a lot of them and a few snakes at home -- and he said he thought it was a female, but he wasn't making any guarantees.
