This is one of many, many reasons I am a perfectionist when it comes to my writing.

So I stopped up the house today and somehow we ended up on the topic of Heroine Addiction, and my mom said it was very good but "I did find a few errors, though."

At which point she mentioned this:

"Like that part with the toilet? The water in the top part of the toilet isn't dirty."

I didn't say anything because having in-depth character discussions with my mom is bound to about as much fun as it might be with anyone's mom, BUT.

I really did go look in my toilet the day I wrote that bit. (Which I hated, because toilets gross me out to a ridiculous degree, but I don't know enough about plumbing NOT to, you know?) I've mentioned my apartment isn't the fanciest in the world, right? The inside of the top of my toilet is ... let's just say it's not pretty. But the part you use is clean, the water is clear, and everything works, so it can be as gross as it wants in there. Watch me care.

I thought about the one in Morris's bathroom and figured that one would be clean for several reasons:

1. They live in a nice condo.
2. Neither is a slob.
3. I imagine Morris is the sort of person to make up for the possible lack of cleaning personnel allowed into the condo by inventing a Roomba which cleans, scrubs and disinfects the entire place from floor to ceiling to hospital standards.

Then I thought about it and, hell, Morris is just the sort of schmuck to lead Vera into the bathroom, point at the toilet, say in no uncertain terms that he will hide anything of any importance ever in the toilet, and then - after she left - peer into the crystal-clear water in the well, mutter, "Well, I *am* supposed to be hiding things in there," and pour a bunch of crud in as a disgusting smokescreen. You know, just in case.

I really am the sort of weirdo who checks that kind of stuff, although to be fair any other mistakes are ... well, probably mistakes.

The horrible residue of years and years of unscrubbed hard water! Possibly some things growing!
