EDIT: You know, I've seen a lot of "You know you're on Livejournal too much when ..." lately, but I'm surprised that I have yet to see the option, "If you've ever been tempted to say in real life that something 'iz pastede on yay!'" 'Cause, damn it, I can't be the only one.

::sigh:: No, you're not the only one. I started to say "my brain is pastede on yay" at work the other day. Thank goodness I stopped myself. Being known as eccentric and geeky is fine, but I'd like avoid going over that line to clinically insane.

I think I could get away with appearing to be clinically insane at work, considering how goofy my co-workers already think I am. Hell, Lieutenant Asshat spent half of Thursday trying to figure out what my signature on my work email means. (It's "Spoooooooon!", btw.)

It comes from a classic Fandom_Wank thingie that exploded. _redpanda_ would have the links to the entire wankfest.

But to recap: someone claimed that people were stealing her LotR artwork that she worked on herself and others realized that what she was posting wasn't original sketches but Photoshop-filtered stuff. The "pastede on yay!" comment came about when she claimed that Dom had visited her room.

I have a participation-heavy high level anthropology class this semester, in which we are graded for both the quantity and the quality of our responses to the reading.

So, imagine my embarrassment when I finally had a chance to get a word in edgewise to criticize some of the work of an early anthropologist, and I ended my little speech with, "It seems as if Morgan's ethiological categorization system is somewhat arbitrary, sort of: 'my logik iz pastede on yay'."

I think most of the other people didn't catch it, but a guy a few seats down cracked up a little. I pronounced the 'z' in iz a little too hard to get away with it having just been a regular 'is', so.

Welcome to the world of CrystalWank. It's this long, involved fandom_wank (as in 10,000+ comments, last I checked) in which some girl claimed she'd taken photos of Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, and drawn sketchs, but they were all very obviously manipulated press shots. Someone started "My hed iz pastde on, yay!" as a joke referring to her less-than-stellar photoshop skills, and it's caught on like no other.
