EDIT: Group hug?

OTHER, MORE ANNOYED EDIT: Bush camp certain of win. Dear Bush camp, learn math.

CATASTROPHIC EDIT: I think I'll watch The Day After this morning while I do my hair. Not because it's any good, but because at least with that disaster movie, I know that the states in the middle get nuked.

TIRED, SAD EDIT: I can't even be angry, I'm just sad by what this says about the country I live in. I hate the fact that I'm sure in four years this decision will look even worse to me than it does this morning. I don't want to say people are idiots. It's more like 51 percent of this country saw a different man in the white house the last four years, someone worth voting for. I wish I thought they might be right. What [livejournal.com profile] lyrajane said.

AND NOW FOR THE FEARFUL EDIT: If Bush is declared the winner, I'm moving back to Pennsylvania as soon as fucking possible. I don't even care if I don't have a car. I'm not going to live in a major city -- especially this one -- when I fully believe someone's (*coughcoughosamasflunkiescough*) going to pull some shit because of this.

Still, there's no way in hell I'm leaving this country. Aside from the fact that the government 's populated entirely by criminals idiots, I like it here.

DISGUSTED EDIT: Eleven states approved a ban of gay marriage. Congratulations, guys! You just approved a ban on something that harms no one! Next up on the banning agenda -- books, puppies, wearing white after Labor Day, and Ben Affleck, who's not harmful, just annoying.

GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT (BUT NOT THAT MUCH OF ONE) OF EDIT: Oh, there are no words to describe how much I will not be listening to Bill O'Reilly today, that smug bastard. I'm a glutton for punishment, but that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much of it for my tastes.

Bush camp certain of win. Dear Bush camp, learn math.

Bush camp is certain because the fix is in -- it's down to Ohio, where the guy who set up the voting machines stated publically that he's committed to delivering the state to Bush in this election.

*eye roll*

Oh, how lovely. Nonpartisan politics at its best.

I hate 51% of the American public right now. Especially Ohio.

Especially since Kerry up and conceded. Goddammit.

Funny, exactly what I said. Only, ya know, with a lot more swearing. And less mention of Ben Affleck.

Strange, people keep telling me to be glad I left waybackwhen, but stuff like this makes me want to go back. Then I could follow all the Republicans in Texas with, oh, I don't know. Tar and feathers or something equally ridiculous. Maybe I'll have gotten them all by the next election.

I really really worry for people.

[identity profile] cmstephens.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Not only am I in one of the eleven states, I'm in one of the several that it passed with at least 75% of the vote in. (And I'm one of the people against it!)

Not only that, there was also the failure of our county's wet/dry vote (by 521 votes), as opposed to one that passed a few counties over...

*whimper* So want to rant, but...what's the fucking point?

Screw PA, come to VT! We can form a commune of sane, intelligent, thinking people!

Although, I could get behind a ban on Affleck...

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I've decided to look at the bright side of a Bush win, if it does happen. At least I'll get to keep my "Terrorists kill a kitten" icon.

Er, that's the only bright side I could find, actually.

[identity profile] foenix.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well, four more years of amusing Bushisms...

Frankly, there's a number of amusing upsides, but the cost is SO not worth it.

Because I'd like this country to not be a joke, someday.

I've got four words that give me hope: Barack Obama in 2012. The man got 82% of the votes in Illinois, and I know he was up against that asshat Keyes, but still. Hee.

well, if you want to move back to PA, you can come stay with me. My apartment doesn't meet its quota of hilarious snarkiness frequently enough...

[identity profile] xerne.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Come to State College, we've got lions...

=P Seriously, though, if you move to PA stop in State College and I'll take you out to dinner at least.

[identity profile] sabra-n.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Dear Bush camp, learn math.

As usual, The Daily Show is the most accurate (and prescient) news source. "We don't let things like the numbers get in the way of moving America forward. That's a pre-9/11 mindset; the paradigm has changed."

Something is wrong when a parody is that accurate.

But you know what the saddest thing is? On the local level, I don't think there's much more I could have done. I was part of the turnout effort in Pennsylvania. Obviously, it worked. It's the other damn states that let us down.

I'm not going to cry.

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
I was going to call my mother this morning and bitch at her if PA went red and she hadn't gone to vote. Luckily, she was spared.

I just had to [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes you. Hope you don't mind.

And by the way, you rock.

I'm going to need a roommate by March. And Pittsburgh has a good transportation system and isn't a huge terroristic target.

I feel good about the fact that at least my state has some sense. Maybe the entire Northeast can just secede from the United States...

[personal profile] fyrdrakken 2004-11-03 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
You know, the thought that's been going through my head lately is that the last time we were this fervently divided on the presidential election, we had a Civil War...

[identity profile] tinylegacies.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
I thought the Civil War was a result of the divison of North and South over the issue of slavery...
fyrdrakken: (Working)

[personal profile] fyrdrakken 2004-11-03 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, and then the Republican party was founded with an anti-slavery platform, and Lincoln ran as their presidential candidate. His election as president was what started the southern states off seceding.

[identity profile] fireberry.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
My absolute only consolation from this election is that, yes, I do live in the Midwest but I also live in one of the few states here that voted Democratic. And overwhelmingly so. *clings to Obama and her semi-intelligent Illinois*

[identity profile] ex-riverblue937.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
What I don't get is why only those eleven states got to vote on the gay marriage ban. I think I missed something.

[identity profile] greenie-breizh.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Right there with you. I did it on my LJ, but I really want to thank young (and not-so-young, too) people who've helped me realize there's a reason I still care about this country even though I don't live in it and I despise it in so many ways. People like you.

Also, the Digusted Edit is priceless. I'm going to copy that in my LJ if that's okay with you... I just wish it wasn't true.

hello!

I'm definitely not for banning Ben Affleck! :) I <3 Ben, especially now that he has gotten rid of J.Ho

So anyway, hi!
