(no subject)

[livejournal.com profile] devildoll pointed out that AICN has some new X3 tidbits ... according to Moriarty, it's between John Moore, who did Behind Enemy Lines and Flight of the Phoenix (okay, whatever), and Brett Ratner, who did the Rush Hour movies. And God forgive me, but I liked the Rush Hour movies. Not that I'm sure that I'd want him directing the X-Men movies, but still.

In other news, there were script spoilers. And they go a little something like this.

Three major characters that absolutely should not die, die. Really dead, too. Not Spock Dead.

GODDAMN IT. What did I say yesterday? Hmm? *hits something with a two-by-four*

All right, all right. Look, it probably won't be that bad. And it is in character for those guys to drop like flies anyway. And I've always got fanfiction to fall back on. But ... but ... GODDAMN IT. I don't want anyone to die! Except for Storm. *whimper*

They touch Bobby and I reserve the right to throttle someone. GRRR.

And one mutant who should not lose her powers, loses her powers permanently. Really loses them, too. Not SUPERMAN II loses them.

The bitchy part of me hopes it's Storm, although that would just focus waaaaay too much storyline on Halle Berry, and blech. The part of me that loves the character and wants her to be happy is DYING for it to be Rogue. Actually, that part of me is dying to write that story.

And the sex scene... when you see who does what to who... oh, boy.

You mean like a real sex scene?! Really? Woohoo!

Please be slash, oh, pleeeeeeease be slash ...

The entire X-MEN universe may face some incredible overhauls, and it's going to be fascinating to see what fandom does when faced with this stuff.

Oh, XMM fandom will do the same thing it always does ... bitch about what bothers them, swoon over what doesn't, write a shitload of fanfiction, and make fun of Halle Berry's wig.

::rereads::

Meep?

I might be back writing X-fic just to fix some of this...

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! I mean, they have to kill more people eventually, but ... but ...

*grabs Bobby and hides him in my closet*

[identity profile] marag.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I really can't think of *any* character I'd want to kill off. Halle Berry's Storm annoys me, but not that much.

Well, if you hide Bobby, I'll hide Scott and Jean. And Jubilee, come to think of it. I'd cry if they killed Jubes. Or Kitty.

Okay, I give up, I don't want them to kill anyone. ::sniff::

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. It's not so much me wanting Storm to go away as me wanting Storm to be recast. Because, GYAH, Halle.

Ooo, ooo! I can't believe I forgot Jubilee! I've got room to hide Jubes. And also, John can duck under my bed and I'm pretty sure Kurt would fit into my bathroom.

[identity profile] marag.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, so I've got Scott, Jean, and Kitty and you've got Bobby, John, Jubes, and Kurt. Do we need to hide Charles, do you think? Is there any chance they'd kill him? Maybe we'd better find a spot, just in case. I've got a large basement that has it's own entrance, so he can roll the wheelchair in there. I'll take him.

They can't kill my X-Men! Damn it, it was bad enough they killed Jean off once.

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, if we're being realistic, the fact that it's been two movies and they've only killed Jean once shows a hell of a lot of restraint on their part. ;)

But yes, no more killing, damn it. ARGH.

[identity profile] minisinoo.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas, I fear Scott is a gonner and Jean will be the one to lose her powers permanently. Could be wrong, but killing off Cyclops gets rid of the "Marsden problem" from the studio's point of view, might give a justification for Dark Phoenix, and the original plan was for Jean to be depowered to a 'normal' human, rather than killed on the moon. Don't particularly *like* that, but it's how I read it. Others likely to die ... my guess is Magneto (referencing that bout with Logan alluded to ... somewhere) and possibly one of the newbies -- Hank or (more likely) Warren. If not one of the newbies, then another possibility is Xavier himself.

I won't even guess on the sex scene, unless it's something really odd like (dark) Jean/Xavier.

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what it says about me that Warren hasn't even been cast yet, Hank's been cast with someone I'm not all that thrilled with, and we haven't seen either performance, and my reaction is still, "NOOOOOO!" *snerk*

[identity profile] marag.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
::whimpers and clutches Cyke:: Darn you for sounding logical.

I'm not happy about this.

[identity profile] minisinoo.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not happy, either, but my first thought upon reading that 3 major characters die (and stay dead) is that Scott's not long for the X-Men world. (sigh) Which, if he dies and Jean's depowered, will pretty much kill my interest in XMM and fanfic. I suppose I could do ONLY fanfic, but my experience from X-Files is that if my characters are taken out of the source material, or my interest in them is severely wounded, my interest in the fandom doesn't long survive it.

[identity profile] marag.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
::sigh:: If their deaths serve some purpose, I might not totally leave the fandom. But if they're just pointless deaths to make us shed a tear...

[identity profile] minisinoo.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I do actually suspect that Scott's death will serve a plot function, but he'd be the ONE character whose death/departure would be most likely make me lose interest, especially if it's paired with Jean's depowering. I think they'd be willing to kill him off because most of the (non-Geek (g)) audience won't miss him, and the emotional in-story punch from his death is likely to be too tempting.

(Goes off to poke at her OWN version of X3...)

...Xavier and Magneto have a last fling before waking up dead in the morning?

Cause, you know, that'd work for me.

[identity profile] minisinoo.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! It's possible there might be something sexual between them, although I find that even less likely than the highly controversial Jean/Xavier. 8} (Which is too bad, really... (g))

[identity profile] sabra-n.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Gaiman talked about the Magneto-Wolverine fight. And does any fight make less sense than that one? How much more one-sided can it get? Either Magneto turns Wolverine into a human pretzel, or he's depowered and it's an old man against a guy with steak knives in his hands. *headdesk* The stupid. It burns.

And unfortunately, when I heard about 3 characters dying I thought of Cyclops right away, too. But does anyone think it could be Xavier, Magneto, and someone else- Storm, for instance? Everyone's been fighting the fight of the older generation so far; maybe they want to change that. Or maybe I'm stretching for a way to make this not-horrible somehow.

I...really hope that the sex scene isn't what came to mind for me. Really, really hope it. And I'll leave it at that- stating the pairing out loud might make it come true, and that wouldn't be pretty.

-blue

[identity profile] minisinoo.livejournal.com 2005-06-03 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! It was Gaiman, thanks. :-) I knew I'd read it, and from a reputable source (not generic rumor), but couldn't recall where.

So far, most of the bets I've seen for who dies almost universally name Cyclops as one of them. When that many people see the same thing coming, I fear it's probably for a damn good reason. I hope we'll be surprised, but I doubt it. Storm is another possibility, and given Berry's problems with the studio (not to mention her bill), maybe a likely one. So far, comment has all been that X3 is the last X-Men film, although there'll be spinoffs (both of which concern times before the X-Men movies, not after them). But even if they're thinking about continuing, they may want to clear the board of 'old' cast, especially expensive old cast who don't have pivotal roles (regardless of their significance in the comic). That targest both Cyke and Storm. I still don't think Jean will be #3, because she just died in the last film and that's too predictable. Some of speculated that Rogue will be depowered, but I see less *plot* reason for it to be her than to be Jean. I think the #3 kickoff will be either Magneto or one of the newcomers, most likely Warren.

Sex scene -- Jean and Logan is almost *too* predictable. I saw someone somewhere mention Mystique as a possible person, and that actually sounds more like the sort of, "Oh, wow, you'll never believe who this is ...!" comment we saw on AICN. I'd bet Mystique and Logan, but Mystique appearing as someone else, OR Mystique and Cyke, with Mystique appearing as Jean. A third possibility is, as mentioned before, Dark Phoenix/Xavier, although that may be too shocking for them to consider. (The tone had the 'it's kinky but exciting' edge I associate with something considered just a little off the beaten track, rather than something really controversial, such as a male/male pairing, or something with a huge age gap.)

[identity profile] illian.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't the poor boy in the closet enough as it is?

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
*snerk* This is true. ;)

[identity profile] prettyveela.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You hate Storm? :(

If Logan dies I'll boycott damnit.

[identity profile] marag.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry. The chances of them killing Logan are rather less than the chances of us getting the long-awaited onscreen kiss between Magneto and Xavier.

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't hate Storm, I hate Halle Berry. Big difference. (Granted, I'm not the world's biggest Storm fan, and she's maybe my least favorite X-Man, but still.)

[identity profile] prettyveela.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well if loving Storm/Nightcrawler is wrong I don't wanna be right! lol

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, Storm/Nightcrawler is just cool. To be honest, I think those were my favorite Storm scenes in the entire series. They have great chemistry. :)

[identity profile] prettyveela.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha yeah I think that's the reason why I like her, simply because of the UST they had in X2. I wanted them to kiss so bad when he put his hoof/claw/whatever the hell it is up to her face and told her "How can someone so young be so angry?"

Come on X3!

[identity profile] beanarie.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Twenty bucks it's Rogue who loses her powers in a not Superman 2 fashion.

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I could totally get behind that. In fact, now I'm kind of wishing I'd requested that for [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon.

[identity profile] beanarie.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Sigh. You'd do it so much better than they will.

My thoughts.

[identity profile] redhawk.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Three majors who die:

Well, judging by canon, you've got Warren. Say goodnight, you're gettin' pinned to a wall via the wings. I think Scott's a goner as well, just for shock value and to solve the Marsden Problem. I think the third is going to be Chuck Himself.

Losing powers permanently? Can _you_ say Neutralizer? I think it's Ororo. Or maybe Logan - echoes of the Mutant Train stuff in Genosha.

Sex scene - I think we've got Logan/Jean Luvin' here. Especially if Scott's dead and Jean's mundane.

What is the Marsden Problem?

Re: My thoughts.

[identity profile] redhawk.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Min's referred to this before.

The Marsden Problem is that poor Jimmy's signed on to have a role in Singer's new Superman movie. Which is shooting at the same time as X3.

His available is very, very restricted.

Re: My thoughts.

[identity profile] minisinoo.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. Although now that they've changed the shooting dates of X3, that no longer applies (he'll be done with Superman before X3 starts), but choices about storyline were probably made *before*, and they might still want to get rid of the character even if he's available, for spite. (g) I hadn't thought about Ororo losing her powers aka Neutralizer. I still suspect it's Jean, though, tying into Dark Phoenix, since that would be a shocking, take-no-prisoners way to solve the Dark Phoenix delimma.

::wants to crush Singer's head with my MIND:: It's all well and good stealing behind the scenes people, in fact breaking their contract with Warner Brothers, but also stealing actors (isn't Shawn Ashmore in Superman too?) is just ...::goes and hits wall a couple times::

Err I mean Fox. Not famous yet! Do not need to keep track of studios!

[identity profile] snellios.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
omgwtf OMGWTF NONE OF THIS IS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.

The reason they're killing characters is blatantly because they cannot afford all to pay all the actors' fees.

YOU SUCK HOLLYWOOD.

[identity profile] wufeidragon.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow... one character being killed off I can see, but THREE!?!?! That's too much for one movie.

As for the sex scene, I think I'm going to go with either Mistique and Logan or Jean and Logan... most likely Jean and Logan because I suspect Cyclops will die.

[identity profile] tania.livejournal.com 2005-06-03 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
*cracks up over your commentary*

OK, slash? Would be awesome. But it's unlikely. -_-; Dammit. Because the hottest X-Men fanfic I ever read was a Logan/Scott fic involving a motorbike. Mwaaah. :3

Re deaths - as long as they don't kill Wolverine, I'm happy. ^_^;;

Losing powers... Jean Grey? *gasp* Professor X?? Rogue would be a great choice, tho. And I will totally read that fic. :)

I love extreme overhauls. I love watching the heads of the fanboys go a-splode.

[identity profile] adjectivegirl.livejournal.com 2005-06-03 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait okay, whoa, brain, so much information....I liked Rush Hour 2 but Brett Ratner is more or less a hack of the highest order and that cannot happen.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if The Losing Powers and Sex Scene were somehow related (Rogue loses her powers, tries to jump Wolvie's bones in the meantime, he turns her down, Bobby is comfort!sex) and depending on how they want to play it, they could easily have one new character introduced and killed within the text and then off Scott and hmm...Pyro or something.

DAMMIT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN BRYAN SINGER STEALS THE SCREENWRITERS AND THEN THE PRODUCERS DON'T IMMEDIATELY HIRE ME, HAVING SENSED MY IMPENDING UNEMPLOYMENT.

[identity profile] tinylegacies.livejournal.com 2005-06-04 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Woah.

Okay... my first thought...

I hope it's Rogue who loses her powers and that she is involved in the sex scene (and I almost don't care who she's paired with as long as its not Xavier).

As for the 3 character deaths... that seems a bit... excessive to me... but I'd go with one of the bad guys (maybe Magneto), one of the good guys (I guess Cyclops seems like the popular choice) and maybe a character that hasn't been in any of the flicks yet that we aren't *too* invested in.

Are we certain that the plot is going to involve the Dark Phoenix? Is Famke Jessen definitely in the new movie?

And dude - I hope you're okay - you haven't posted at all today and that's just weird.
