[livejournal.com profile] devildoll pointed out that AICN has some new X3 tidbits ... according to Moriarty, it's between John Moore, who did Behind Enemy Lines and Flight of the Phoenix (okay, whatever), and Brett Ratner, who did the Rush Hour movies. And God forgive me, but I liked the Rush Hour movies. Not that I'm sure that I'd want him directing the X-Men movies, but still.

In other news, there were script spoilers. And they go a little something like this.

Three major characters that absolutely should not die, die. Really dead, too. Not Spock Dead.

GODDAMN IT. What did I say yesterday? Hmm? *hits something with a two-by-four*

All right, all right. Look, it probably won't be that bad. And it is in character for those guys to drop like flies anyway. And I've always got fanfiction to fall back on. But ... but ... GODDAMN IT. I don't want anyone to die! Except for Storm. *whimper*

They touch Bobby and I reserve the right to throttle someone. GRRR.

And one mutant who should not lose her powers, loses her powers permanently. Really loses them, too. Not SUPERMAN II loses them.

The bitchy part of me hopes it's Storm, although that would just focus waaaaay too much storyline on Halle Berry, and blech. The part of me that loves the character and wants her to be happy is DYING for it to be Rogue. Actually, that part of me is dying to write that story.

And the sex scene... when you see who does what to who... oh, boy.

You mean like a real sex scene?! Really? Woohoo!

Please be slash, oh, pleeeeeeease be slash ...

The entire X-MEN universe may face some incredible overhauls, and it's going to be fascinating to see what fandom does when faced with this stuff.

Oh, XMM fandom will do the same thing it always does ... bitch about what bothers them, swoon over what doesn't, write a shitload of fanfiction, and make fun of Halle Berry's wig.

::whimpers and clutches Cyke:: Darn you for sounding logical.

I'm not happy about this.

I'm not happy, either, but my first thought upon reading that 3 major characters die (and stay dead) is that Scott's not long for the X-Men world. (sigh) Which, if he dies and Jean's depowered, will pretty much kill my interest in XMM and fanfic. I suppose I could do ONLY fanfic, but my experience from X-Files is that if my characters are taken out of the source material, or my interest in them is severely wounded, my interest in the fandom doesn't long survive it.

::sigh:: If their deaths serve some purpose, I might not totally leave the fandom. But if they're just pointless deaths to make us shed a tear...

I do actually suspect that Scott's death will serve a plot function, but he'd be the ONE character whose death/departure would be most likely make me lose interest, especially if it's paired with Jean's depowering. I think they'd be willing to kill him off because most of the (non-Geek (g)) audience won't miss him, and the emotional in-story punch from his death is likely to be too tempting.

(Goes off to poke at her OWN version of X3...)
