[livejournal.com profile] devildoll pointed out that AICN has some new X3 tidbits ... according to Moriarty, it's between John Moore, who did Behind Enemy Lines and Flight of the Phoenix (okay, whatever), and Brett Ratner, who did the Rush Hour movies. And God forgive me, but I liked the Rush Hour movies. Not that I'm sure that I'd want him directing the X-Men movies, but still.

In other news, there were script spoilers. And they go a little something like this.

Three major characters that absolutely should not die, die. Really dead, too. Not Spock Dead.

GODDAMN IT. What did I say yesterday? Hmm? *hits something with a two-by-four*

All right, all right. Look, it probably won't be that bad. And it is in character for those guys to drop like flies anyway. And I've always got fanfiction to fall back on. But ... but ... GODDAMN IT. I don't want anyone to die! Except for Storm. *whimper*

They touch Bobby and I reserve the right to throttle someone. GRRR.

And one mutant who should not lose her powers, loses her powers permanently. Really loses them, too. Not SUPERMAN II loses them.

The bitchy part of me hopes it's Storm, although that would just focus waaaaay too much storyline on Halle Berry, and blech. The part of me that loves the character and wants her to be happy is DYING for it to be Rogue. Actually, that part of me is dying to write that story.

And the sex scene... when you see who does what to who... oh, boy.

You mean like a real sex scene?! Really? Woohoo!

Please be slash, oh, pleeeeeeease be slash ...

The entire X-MEN universe may face some incredible overhauls, and it's going to be fascinating to see what fandom does when faced with this stuff.

Oh, XMM fandom will do the same thing it always does ... bitch about what bothers them, swoon over what doesn't, write a shitload of fanfiction, and make fun of Halle Berry's wig.

Alas, I fear Scott is a gonner and Jean will be the one to lose her powers permanently. Could be wrong, but killing off Cyclops gets rid of the "Marsden problem" from the studio's point of view, might give a justification for Dark Phoenix, and the original plan was for Jean to be depowered to a 'normal' human, rather than killed on the moon. Don't particularly *like* that, but it's how I read it. Others likely to die ... my guess is Magneto (referencing that bout with Logan alluded to ... somewhere) and possibly one of the newbies -- Hank or (more likely) Warren. If not one of the newbies, then another possibility is Xavier himself.

I won't even guess on the sex scene, unless it's something really odd like (dark) Jean/Xavier.

I don't know what it says about me that Warren hasn't even been cast yet, Hank's been cast with someone I'm not all that thrilled with, and we haven't seen either performance, and my reaction is still, "NOOOOOO!" *snerk*

::whimpers and clutches Cyke:: Darn you for sounding logical.

I'm not happy about this.

I'm not happy, either, but my first thought upon reading that 3 major characters die (and stay dead) is that Scott's not long for the X-Men world. (sigh) Which, if he dies and Jean's depowered, will pretty much kill my interest in XMM and fanfic. I suppose I could do ONLY fanfic, but my experience from X-Files is that if my characters are taken out of the source material, or my interest in them is severely wounded, my interest in the fandom doesn't long survive it.

::sigh:: If their deaths serve some purpose, I might not totally leave the fandom. But if they're just pointless deaths to make us shed a tear...

I do actually suspect that Scott's death will serve a plot function, but he'd be the ONE character whose death/departure would be most likely make me lose interest, especially if it's paired with Jean's depowering. I think they'd be willing to kill him off because most of the (non-Geek (g)) audience won't miss him, and the emotional in-story punch from his death is likely to be too tempting.

(Goes off to poke at her OWN version of X3...)

...Xavier and Magneto have a last fling before waking up dead in the morning?

Cause, you know, that'd work for me.

LOL! It's possible there might be something sexual between them, although I find that even less likely than the highly controversial Jean/Xavier. 8} (Which is too bad, really... (g))

I think Gaiman talked about the Magneto-Wolverine fight. And does any fight make less sense than that one? How much more one-sided can it get? Either Magneto turns Wolverine into a human pretzel, or he's depowered and it's an old man against a guy with steak knives in his hands. *headdesk* The stupid. It burns.

And unfortunately, when I heard about 3 characters dying I thought of Cyclops right away, too. But does anyone think it could be Xavier, Magneto, and someone else- Storm, for instance? Everyone's been fighting the fight of the older generation so far; maybe they want to change that. Or maybe I'm stretching for a way to make this not-horrible somehow.

I...really hope that the sex scene isn't what came to mind for me. Really, really hope it. And I'll leave it at that- stating the pairing out loud might make it come true, and that wouldn't be pretty.

Yes! It was Gaiman, thanks. :-) I knew I'd read it, and from a reputable source (not generic rumor), but couldn't recall where.

So far, most of the bets I've seen for who dies almost universally name Cyclops as one of them. When that many people see the same thing coming, I fear it's probably for a damn good reason. I hope we'll be surprised, but I doubt it. Storm is another possibility, and given Berry's problems with the studio (not to mention her bill), maybe a likely one. So far, comment has all been that X3 is the last X-Men film, although there'll be spinoffs (both of which concern times before the X-Men movies, not after them). But even if they're thinking about continuing, they may want to clear the board of 'old' cast, especially expensive old cast who don't have pivotal roles (regardless of their significance in the comic). That targest both Cyke and Storm. I still don't think Jean will be #3, because she just died in the last film and that's too predictable. Some of speculated that Rogue will be depowered, but I see less *plot* reason for it to be her than to be Jean. I think the #3 kickoff will be either Magneto or one of the newcomers, most likely Warren.

Sex scene -- Jean and Logan is almost *too* predictable. I saw someone somewhere mention Mystique as a possible person, and that actually sounds more like the sort of, "Oh, wow, you'll never believe who this is ...!" comment we saw on AICN. I'd bet Mystique and Logan, but Mystique appearing as someone else, OR Mystique and Cyke, with Mystique appearing as Jean. A third possibility is, as mentioned before, Dark Phoenix/Xavier, although that may be too shocking for them to consider. (The tone had the 'it's kinky but exciting' edge I associate with something considered just a little off the beaten track, rather than something really controversial, such as a male/male pairing, or something with a huge age gap.)
