[livejournal.com profile] spn_50states -- I called dibs on Pennsylvania. Woohoo! Now I just need to dig up some Pennsylvania urban legends and stuff. :) I've already sworn off the Smurl haunting. Which should be dumb, because it even got mentioned by Sam in "Asylum", so it's in the canon and everything, but I'm not really into it and part of me thinks it's way too easy to go with that. (You know what ridiculously stupid thing bothers me most about the Smurl haunting? The TV movie that got made about it. Not because it was bad, but because the actress playing the wife -- whose name escapes me at the moment -- couldn't be bothered to learn how to correctly pronounce "Wilkes-Barre" when her character's supposed to have moved from there.)

I find it amusing that it's not even noon on Cinco de Mayo and I've already technically been drunk today. Heh.

I need to clean my apartment today. It's kind of sad when you skip out on housework to write fanfic. (I'm going to keep telling myself that until I start to believe it to see if it actually sinks in. Probably not, though.)

EDIT: Huh. I completely forgot the Houdini Museum is in Scranton. And they do a seance every year to contact his spirit. It's a pretty crappy building, too. Dean would have a field day verbally ripping it to shreds. (Right now, I'm torn between that and another cool ghost story I found. I'll have to go both places sometime next week and see which one pings.)

OTHER EDIT: If I do the Houdini Museum, I'm not allowed to call the story "Thirty Thousand Pounds Of Bananas and One Dead Escape Artist". Because I'm not.

ooh, Pennsylvania urban legends! I can try to help out if you'd like - I know of two off the top of my head from my hometown area. Can't wait to see what you write. :)

Well, right now I'm torn between one ghost story I really like and the seance at the Houdini Museum, both of which are in Scranton. What can I say? I know the area backwards and sideways, and because of the Books of Boggs, I've got tons of experience writing the atmosphere. :)

Oooh, this will be so cool! I can't wait to learn about all the spooky stuff in PA. I don't know much about the state yet, but I should start learning, since I'm spending the next three years there!

Oh, neat! I'm not familiar with either of those, but they both sound like fantastic ideas.

The one thing I'm really tempted to throw in is that there's a paranormal group that's run by a guy who claims he's a vampire and meets at the local Denny's once a month. 'Cause, seriously, HEE.

omg. That needs to be in there. Sam and Dean would have so much to say on that little situation. The brothers when they meet up with paranormal posers is such potential for comedy gold.

Is it? Because I do it ALL the time. And it's just Standard Operating Procedure. :)
