Yay! Schwarzenegger's officially been voted in as governor of California! I'm so very thrilled. Now I can keep hearing those wonderful Arnie-as-governor puns in the media for the next four years! What bliss!

And hey, it's Marriage Protection Week, which means we should all celebrate it the way we did when we were kids -- with bold-faced lies and bullshit so deep you'll stink of it for weeks. Months, even. (I second [livejournal.com profile] kielle. If you think like this, please take me off your friends list. And here's a quarter to go buy some common fucking sense.)

But...but...they're really just doing it in response to polygamy and polyamory. Really!

You mean the same way the RIAA are just trying to stop Kazaa for the porn? ;)

They are?

You can get porn off Kazaa?

Why didn't anyone tell me this?

Hrm. I suppose they'd just be against polygamy rather than polyamory. *sarcastic voice on* After all, what people do in their own homes behind closed doors is their own business, unless someone happens to walk in on them. Even if it is a sin.

Well, you can, but most of it is really the RIAA's music covered up. For example, the video for "Hit Me Baby One More Time" is being passed around Kazaa cleverly disguised as a spanking video featuring a 16-year-old girl in a Catholic schoolgirl outfit. *nods solemnly*

I will go with "if you think like this you are off my friends list, because I need the aggrivation", but otherwise I agree.

You know, they were very detailed in describing all those unwanted unions. I am sure doing research on alternative partnership arrangements was very painful for them. They will never feel clean again. *Nods*

Got any suggestions on how I can protest this Marriage Protection crapola?

Blurg. I think marriage needs to be protected from the fundamentalists. Taking a perfectly good institution and using it to be nasty to people? They should be ashamed of themselves!

For no particular reason, I'm reminded of a bit in the Yom Kippur service where the congregation is asking to be forgiven for various things, one of which is "immoral sexual practices." ::rolls eyes::

I leaned over to my husband and said, "Damn, I don't think we engaged in any this year. Maybe we can get a list and do better for next year?"

Engage in homosexual sex with a partner who's married to a heterosexual. That's how I'm going to try it.

This is the first I've heard about Marriage Protection Week. Is it just an American thing? I'm mostly straight, so I think I'll just celebrate by having extramarital sex and reading a lot of Emma Goldman.

Well, there are certainly immoral sexual practices.

Many of them involve goats, small children, or both.

Entirely an American thing. It's right up there with "Patriot" day on the list of things that make no sense whatsoever to anyone.

After reading that I would like to state that, barring chemical brainwashing or a lump of steel becoming embedded in my brain, any formalised committment I may in the future enter into with any partner or partners will not in any way involve religion.

Because, frankly, I'd rather the love of my life left me, got a sex change, and became a cabaret dancer in Bangkok than that I was in any way associated with this kind of fucktard.

That is all.

You know, with the exception of the Bangkok thing (which is always a possibility) that sounds remarkably like my love life.

You know, denying the existence of sheep sex is as bigoted as preaching against it.

I'm not denying the existance of sheep sex. I just think that it's more a problem of countries like Scotland or New Zealand. Not the U.S.

The U.S. is far more interested in buggering cattle. It's all about the demographics.

I can't understand why anyone would choose a cow over a sheep. At least, with the sheep, you don't need a stepladder.

Um, you know what? I'm thinking this out waaaaay too much.

Yes, oh yes! Look at [livejournal.com profile] folk and [livejournal.com profile] vanityfair — they've both compiled some great ideas and informative links.

I've been pondering using the "take me off your friends list" thing for some time, but it may cause irritation since most of my friends run in the same group and that might not work out. But maybe.

Yes, this was pointless. I guess I'm commending your conviction.
