[livejournal.com profile] wrenlet pointed it out and I forgot to bring it up.

Okay, picture the vision.

-- Niki, DL and Micah are together.
-- Isaac drags away Simone, as if they're paired up.
-- Mohinder gets out of the driver's seat of the taxi.
-- Matt's in his patrol uniform.
-- The signs say "Vote Petrelli", which is strange because when Hiro leapt forward Nathan had won the election already.
-- Claire's in her cheerleading outfit, which I'm not sure she'd want to be involved in after this. After all, she's got more important things to worry about, right?
-- Hiro, who is on a quest for his sword, doesn't have it in the vision.

Call me crazy, but I'm not sure Peter's vision is of the future. All signs seem to hint at things that would have taken place in the past -- Mohinder driving a cab, Claire in her cheerleading outfit, Matt in his patrol uniform.

EDIT: *chokegiggles* Oh, man. CSI: Miami is doing these weird moving subtitles where each word get bigger when it's spoken for Cuban immigrants speaking English with a thick accent. This show is so awful, it's BRILLIANT.

Hmmm ... hmmmm. That's interesting to point out!

It's very possible. This is obviously not the same future that Hiro jumped into, anyway, because Hiro is there on the street when the explosion happens. So, maybe they've averted that future by saving Claire? And now, it might end up being in the past?

... this show makes my head hurt. In the good way. ;)

Interesting...I think you're right. Also, after Peter woke up, he was booking a flight straight for Las Vegas, where Ted is, which would have just led to Peter possibly meeting Ted and absorbing his powers. Instead, he meets the Invisible Man.

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, but maybe it's another example of a possible future averted?

Hahaahaha, I loved it when they did that on CSI: Miami. SO FUNNY!!!

I think that Peter may have been having an extended prophetic past-dream, like Mohinder does. Ergo, what he saw isn't literal, but symbolic and the grouping of ideas is a warning about potential future error. Peter was on Walkabout that seemed to warn of coming together as a group too late, being too fearful of each other, failure to self-train, etc.

I think Isaac is dragging away Simone purely because he loves her and doesn't want her at ground zero, I wouldn't say they're paired up, she's clearly heading directly to Peter.

-The "Vote X" signs always take forever to go away. He'd only won the election the night before.

I wouldn't say they're paired up, she's clearly heading directly to Peter.

She's cared about him since before the first episode for taking care of her father, though. It's possible she's going to him in the vision as a good friend.

True, but that was the sign over the entrance to his election headquarters. Those signs get replaced so fast it'll make your head spin.

I can't bring myself to see the vision as so literal, because of the way all the cars were abandoned and only the Heroes were in the street. What, was everyone else teleported out? Maybe the cheerleading outfit, taxi cab, and patrolman's uniform (and Hiro's lack of a sword) are more like iconography- shorthand for who's who. Claire is "the cheerleader", etc.

Anyway, I'm getting a little bouncy waiting for Christopher Eccleston to show up, because I rewatched a bunch of Ninth Doctor Who episodes last week and remembered how I totally imprinted on him like a baby duck the first time I saw them. *makes like your T-Rex icon*

The Petrelli one's not a big one, at least. The explosion takes place the day after the election, so it's definitely possible he was walking out of the campaign office before it was completely torn down.

That would probably be the first "Vote Petrelli" sign they'd tear down, though. If he won the day before, and in a landslide at that, it makes no sense that it would still be up. It's like the Super Bowl winners -- ten seconds after they win they're all wearing specially made T-shirts and tearing the stadium apart. ;)

Huh. I'm actually surprised at how many people think Peter's vision/dream is literal. I agree with [livejournal.com profile] kkglinka that it's more symbolic than anything else, especially when you consider how the scene is shot, what the characters -- the various players in Peter's dream -- are wearing or doing, the abandoned cars on the street. It's a prophetic dream, with meaning and purpose left open to interpretation. More like the Buffy dream ep "Restless", and less like Sam Winchester's flashes of the future.

I don't think it's literal, per se -- when I said that I wasn't sure Peter's vision is of the future, it's because I've seen a lot of people presume as much. I think the fact that he's seeing these people as they would have been weeks ago (back around the time of the pilot, or when they started to grasp their abilities) is part of that symbolism.

Also, in the later vision (the one he woke up from), Peter is looking at himself - maybe it's not him, after all.

okay. you are much more insightful than I. I was too busy going 'argh no blowing up emo boy!' and then 'Eccleston? wtf yay!' to notice all those things. So you rock for bringing them to my attention. Have a cookie.

As for CSI: Miami ... yes!! I was having a total gigglefit throughout that. He's speaking English! Why is there captioning for someone speaking english? And even if there had to be captioning ... why is there moving expanding emphasized text?

That show was always cheese, but I realized last night - all of Horatios posing (doing a one liner when there are guys shot and floating in the bloody ocean??) and the bad slow motion scenes and the captioning ... CSI Miami is now officially in my mind a cheesy cheesy comic book. Captions, dramatic superhero poses, it's got the works!

All they have to do is add 'wham!' 'boof!' when someone gets hit and it'll be complete.

Btw, Peter's vision is evolving. It's changing just a little bit with each dream. Simone doesn't get dragged away by Isaac now, for example.

How very Terminator: Fate Is What You Make. :)

Yup, seen those before. Although OMG, now I've had a horrible, terrible thought, because Claire and Zach so would have Myspaces, but you just know Hiro would have a Livejournal with pretty icons and stories about the sci-fi cons he's been to and awful Star Trek fanfic on it.

*is ABSOLUTELY not writing THAT story*
