I like that Dean's nice to Sukie even before she turned out to be hot, because he appreciates her smarts, skills, and humor.
I find it completely believable that Dean would do just as well in home ec as he does anything else he's interested in. He'd be all "wtf am I doing here?!" for a little bit, and then by the end of the first class, he'd be fitting in.
*Then* he'd get competitive, yeah!
And once he saw the advantages it would give him both for and against his family, you *know* he'd be on board for that. *laughs*
