I was just thinking about this topic over the week--also, about strippers and women who get paid for sex. I'm halfway towards believing that they're denigrated by society not just because of the entire "women shouldn't be sexual" thing, but also because men, in general, have this expectation that any attractive woman should be available to them even though they're not worthy of it. That sex, and a woman's body, should always be "free," or basically an open and easy thing for them to achieve. And if it's not, then it's because the woman is immoral, of course.
(This going back to "because beyond all human comprehension, I don't want to fuck you." A corollary being that "if I do, you're going to give me something worthwhile in return, since you're not worthwhile yourself.")
I'm just thinking that there isn't a real reason for women who get paid for sex (in one way or another) to be denigrated. Is it just because of the fact that they're making men pay for something which they feel entitled to?
Or are they disparaged because they're asking for a value for something which men perceive of as worthless?
