apocalypsos... this quote from Keckler perfectly sums up what bothers me so much about Howie.
The thing with Howie is, he isn't a team player. Yes, I know that's been covered, but beyond that, he is someone who sees a problem and doesn't bother to fix it. He keeps his head down and attempts to protect his own ass, maybe grumbling passive-aggressively about the problem but doing absolutely nothing to fix it for the good of the team. He gives the originator of the problem enough rope to hang themselves and only steps in at Judges' Table to be vocal. That's the ONLY time we see Howie as a communicator: when it's time to sell someone else out to make sure he's protected.
That's what bothers me most about him, I think. It's one thing that he just isn't a team player. Lots of people aren't team players, but at least they TRY.
I think I've just lost a lot of tolerance for lack-of-communication issues in the last few years. Having an adult conversation regarding a problem is not that damn difficult. And the great part is that I get to deal with it at work every week lately. Did I mention that the guy that's been working with Operator Asshat and I continually gets bitched about to me by her rather than talked to in person with her? And that at our last group meeting she actually called him out by name for being slow and bad at his job in a roomful of the entire department? Both of my bosses said the look on my face right then was freakin' priceless.
I just can't do the passive-aggressive thing anymore, not even with dumbass reality-show contestants. At least in real life I can force a confrontation before everything goes completely downhill. I can't do that with a TV show contestant, and it makes me want to grind my teeth together or something.

In sillier news, those plot baggies or whatever the hell you want to call them look like an index card tree or something on my living room door. It's kind of weird, that being the first thing I see when I wake up. Heh. :)
