Otis is just starting to realize he's in trouble.

See, I've been sleeping on the day bed in the living room since I moved in. The living room has two doors but I've never closed them. I've always kept them open, but occasionally the chinchillas would be too loud and I'd think about closing them.

Well, tonight I was perfectly tired enough to go to sleep, except the chinchillas were bouncing off the walls and one of their plastic ledges is broken so every time they jump on it it makes the entire cage shake loudly, and Otis wanted attention NOW NOW NOW except maybe he wanted to lie under the covers with me BUT WAIT he wants to be fed EXCEPT NO he wants me to pet him OR MAYBE he wants to run around the apartment like he's on crack, so ... fuck it, I closed the goddamn doors with the chins and the cat on the other side.

I give Otis another ten minutes before I start hearing mournful Siamese yowling on the other side of the door.

HAHAHAHAHA, omg, your icon. I really have to take a picture of my dad eating dinner one night, because one of their cats sits across his shoulders and another one sits on his knee just politely waiting for scraps.

Mine don't get people food but they'll always hoping.

Tilly doesn't really get the down thing, its like she thinks "silly mommy you couldn't possible to have meant to kick me off your lap/bed/face". She also thinks patting my face at 2am with a hint of claws is the best way to get me to pet her.

One of my parents' cats goes up on the kitchen counter all the time, and if you tell him to get down he lies or sits down. So, you know, he's sort of right. :)

Ahahaha, now I'm remembering what my dad told me about the cat his family had around the time he and my mom started dating. Apparently it would "beg" for scraps at the dinner table by, well- you know in cartoons and stuff how a submarine periscope will come up out of the water and be all: *looks left, right, left* etc? They'd be sitting at the table and suddenly this paw would just come up over the edge feeling around for something to swipe. Of course, my dad and his siblings all totally encouraged this by tapping on the edge of the table every time there was something they didn't want to eat, so she'd know to come over and try and grab it.
