I... want to reserve judgment, but they made it pretty hard. I'm looking at the picture and omg "Mitchel" is selling the DARK AND DOOMY VAMPIRE thing just too hard for me to really get the feeling of the old show, which was about, gasp Being Human. Pilot!Mitchell was slouchy and a bit of a loner-looking skinny thing and the charm did the work. I look at this guy and thing ZOMG sessy but... not Mitchell. That wasn't how he was.

And I'm probably being unfair, but the ghost-girl just looks glassyeyed.

God help me if they take out my favorite line about the men with sticks and rope. I will cry.

I'm giving them a chance because, IIRC, the recast is because the original cast wasn't available. They took their sweet time moving it to series. :(

I agree with what someone above said: what I really LIKED about the original was that Mitchell wasn't the SMOLDERING, OVERLY SEXUAL, BROODING vampire. And I liked that Annie wasn't whatserface from The Ring. And it feels/looks like they're stripping all that away. Grrr.

I'm gonna miss Annie most of all. This new girl, I liked her in the Doctor Who ep she was in...but I just can't see her as Annie. :(

Yeah I can't see her as Annie... Andrea Riseborough's star really rose quickly which was amazing, she was in the pilot in feb, starred as a young Maggie Thatcher, then in a Russian play then in Kenneth Branagh's Ivanov and then Devil's Whore. Blimey, she was busy!

As I can remember I think the BBC's reasoning was that they wanted to go younger, in terms of cast but I don't think the new Mitchell looks any younger than Guy really.

I do like all the fic at Yuletide this year, though. That's a bit of a salve for the changes they made to the show itself.
