This is Jacob's recaplet of last night's Gossip Girl for TWoP.

Now I'm just curious.

[Poll #1366973]

Not that I'm not all for smart meta, but ... Gossip Girl? Really?

Then again, I will admit I feel smarter when I watch Gossip Girl than I do when I switch over to Heroes afterwards. So there's that.

Oh, Jacob. Never change. *just sort of...pats him on the head from afar*

Also, the hilarity of seeing Ronald Speirs be a has-been rockstar dad with shaggy hair and trendy jewelry and a waffle obsession.

I'm there for the kickass bitchy chicks.

With a side order of Chuck Basstard.

I may get yelled at, but am I the only one who thinks Jacob is way too verbose?

I mean, when he did it with Doctor Who I could somewhat understand... but beyond that?

No, not just you. I mean, if it were someplace else I'd probably be really interested, but .. it's TWoP. I go there for a laugh. I'm not going there to find out how the cinematography of this episode of Dancing With The Stars is directly influenced by The Red Shoes.

I've said it once many, many times and I'll say it again:

For the love of God, SHUT UP, JACOB.

Oh. Oh, Jacob.

I love your BSG caps, and your Who ones get a little, uh, wordy, but... Gossip Girl? You write your thesis papers masquerading as wacky meta for Gossip Girl?

Jacob's writing has gotten more and more verbose over the years. He has similar Deep and Intellectual recaps for American Idol. Idol requires zero brain cells to watch (in fact, it's better if you've been drinking). I don't know why he has to turn a recap into a thesis.

Well, here's the thing about Jacob. I've watched too much TV with him not to know that he can find meta in like, Lazytown if he wants to.

See, I love Jacob's recaps. He loses me when he's going into the whole THIS IS CLASSICAL ART stuff, but I spent a good chunk of my spring break reading a bunch of GG recaps. When he unabashedly loves things that I was iffy about, it helps me to like them too and see what he's nuts about.

I wish he'd recapped all of The O.C. I would pay him to do that.

Hee. Jacob is...Jacob. He can't help it. :P

I don't know ... I don't HATE his recaps, per se. I'm just never in the right mood for them, you know? Which is weird, because I'm usually really amused by people getting happily dorky over stuff they like even if I have no idea what they're talking about, but I just ... eh.

Heh. I know. It is a bit endearing. It's like a challenge. What's the most obnoxiously brainless thing he could write meta for? I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT, JACOB. \O/

Dude, I don't even need to watch GG or read that recap to know the answer to this question. Jacob gets very...meta. Which, like, for BSG or Doctor Who is halfway appropriate, but yeah. Gossip Girl?

I avoid any recaps with his name attached. I hang around enough faux-deep lit majors IRL.

My problem with Jacob is, if I have missed the show he is recapping, I can't figure out what HAPPENED on it from the recap, y'know? You really have to dig down A LOT to figure out what the plot was.

I got in a discussion about this on TWOP back when there were threads to review the recaps - I'm in it for the funny and the info, and I didn't feel like I was getting that. I'm sure he's super-smart, but eh...

You know, I fell in love with his recaps for Farscape. I have such a soft spot for that crazy show; the grandiosity in Jacob's writing felt like it fit. And I liked his recap of "Casino Night," too.

That said, hahahaha, I cannot imagine that for GG. I have got to read this!

On top of which, sometimes he's a) wrong and b) hopelessly culturally b) hopelessly culturally biased, which you know, actually does matter when you're trying to recap british shows. Not a metaphor for Reganism! A metaphor for Thatcherism! /bitter.

He's just way, way too pretentious, to the point where it's actually hard to figure out what's going on, on screen, and what's just him projecting.
