From Not Always Right:
(A tourist walks up to my register with a handful of trinkets. I ring her up, she pays, I bag the items, and hand her the coin change. As she steps away, I see a dollar still on the counter.)
Me: “Ma’am, you forgot the rest of your change.”
Tourist: “Oh! I guess I did, unless you were paying me in pesos.”
Me: “Excuse me?”
Tourist: “Pesos. The money in Mexico.”
Me: “I know what a peso is, ma’am, but I’m not Mexican.”
Tourist: “Puerto Rican?”
Me: “Not even close.”
Tourist: “Cuban?”
Me: “No.”
Tourist: “What are you, then?”
Me: “I’m Native American.”
Tourist: “So am I.” (She’s white as notebook paper.)
Me: “No, I mean the people here before white people.”
Tourist: “What do you mean?”
Me: “You don’t know about Natives? Indians?”
Tourist: “Oh, you mean the people John Wayne killed off.”
Me: “Just take your change.”
You know, ninety percent of the time when I read that website I laugh my ass off. This is one of those times when I kinda want to punch the customer in question right in the face.

-- I cleaned my apartment earlier this week and have managed to keep it clean all week long. Hopefully I can keep this up for a while, because it's not much but it's one less thing for me to stress about.
-- I finally noticed how much I've been biting my nails lately and started applying nail polish to them again. I'd put that stuff on them that's supposed to taste bad but, well, it never tasted bad enough to make me stop and I just need a nervous habit to do with them. Picking off the nail polish doesn't exactly look pretty, but it makes me stop biting them instead and by the time they get long again I've usually weaned myself off it.
-- I think I'm going to be able to hold off getting my hair cut for a while. It'd be nice if it would just naturally curl a bit when it was really short so that the short bits on the bottom didn't need curling, but I'm just not that lucky. I dyed it dark brown two weeks ago or so, so I got that much of a change but ... yeah, I know a lot of people don't like getting their hair cut but I adore it, so. *shrugs*
-- That phone bank job isn't the only one I'm planning on trying for. I sent a resume to a new place with better job security that's closer to home and pays just as much. On one hand, it's another factory job, but then again ... no phones. I'm just glad at this point that I've gotten up off my ass and made some serious attempts to get the hell out of that job.
-- I really need to see about exercising more often. I'm thinking about asking my mom if I can use her treadmill. And I still have that exercise CD.
-- I'm sorely tempted to make a comm for everybody I know who's trying to write an original novel. You know, for poking and prodding purposes.
-- I've gotten some writing done in the last four days. Not as much as I'd like, alas, but still better than nothing.
