From Crooks and Liars, John Harwood lets one slip on MSNBC and tells the truth about these people fear mongering over the President speaking to school children next week.:

Novotny: John, what about this controversy over opposition to Obama's speech to school children?

Harwood: I've got to tell you Monica, I've been watching politics for a long time and this is, this one is really over the top. What it shows you is there are a lot of cynical people who try to fan controversy and let's face it, in a country of three hundred million people there are a lot of stupid people too, because if you believe that's it's somehow unhealthy for kids for the President to say work hard and stay in school, you're stupid.

Novotny: Ouch.

Harwood: In fact, I'm worried for some of those kids, I'm worried for some of those kids of those parents who are upset. I'm not sure they're smart enough to raise those kids.

My goal on Heroine Addiction today is 66k. Actually a little more, truth be told -- I've got to chauffeur my mom's cats back and forth from the vet tomorrow and I'm pretty sure I'll be away from the computer most of the day.

I'm really rather desperate for the season premiere of SPN.

IT'S THE BIGGEST "SAVING PEOPLE, HUNTING THINGS" OF ALL, BB. BRING IT. AW, YEAH.

*headtilts* Why I do think I'd marry that guy. Or at least have gobs of meaningless, but VERY acrobatic sex.

The furor around Obama talking to school kids and your ongoing healthcare "debate" has made me seriously wonder exactly how large a portion of your population that is totally batshit insane.

I feel like a bad person when I read about the healthcare debate in the US, and this rabid phobia about 'socialism' and then hysteria because the President dares to use his personal experiences to illustrate the point that sticking with your education is important - and end up thinking 'wow, those Americans sure are crazy.'

But then I read my LJ and commentary from all the not-crazy (or at least differently-crazy!) folks and feel relieved that it's not *everyone* in the US who is looney.

Of course, then I glance around the Austrlaian political scene and think I should have a few less opinions on the craziness of other countries. We got a whole Own Brand set of moronic opinions here as well. Senator Fielding, anyone?

Plus we have shock-jock radio DJ Kyle Sandilands, and that's enough to depress anybody about the state of their nation.
