I like Castiel AND Ruby, Bela, Jo, Ellen, Jess, Mary, Anna, and a host of other female SPN characters.

I would still like Castiel if they'd hired an actress to play the character instead of our darling Misha. Unless, of course, the actress were crap.

I also like pumpkin cheesecake.

I'm not an SPN fan, but yeah. I'm nearly always the weirdo in the room who likes most of the ships and pretty much all of the characters. I've honestly never understood why fandom gets so weird about this stuff.

Some day I'll write this whole meta I've got in my head about how people confuse "I like X" with "I like X and YOU MUST TOO OR YOU'RE SCUM." Why oh why?

Castiel... I dunno. Yes if they got someone like RACHEL WEISZ! But Castiel survived because he is played by someone really damn good, and this show has problems with casting/hanging on to good actresses.
