Yesterday when I said I had no voice, I still ... sorta had a voice. It was scratchy and awful to listen to, but if I spoke at a low enough register somewhere around "pretending to be a baritone male" and "phone sex operator", I could still speak clearly.

Today? I've got nothing. It feel like I'm speaking through a straw. A clogged, scratched stirring straw. I spent all of last night trying to breathe and failing miserably. I don't know how I ever got any sleep.

Also, my throat's even more sore than it was the day before and my nose is stuffed.

I was really hoping this wouldn't get worse, damn it. *sigh*

Eat crisps! (Chips? That's American for crisps, right?) They hurt while you're eating them but your throat feels better afterwards and they normally restore your voice!

I went from having a voice yesterday, although it was somewhat scratchy to having almost no voice at all today. And working in a reataurant--this does not a good combination make. :(

I've spent far too much of my life with laryngitis. I used to get it twice a year.

These remedies helped me:

Twelve ounces of fluid every waking hour (you need to stay really hydrated) Chicken soup
Tea with ginger, honey, lemon
Not talking and especially not whispering
*Really* especially not clearing your throat
Advil (it's an anti-inflammatory)
Resting and reading something you like
Neilmed Sinus Rinse
