See, here's the thing. I just want to get the prologue and the first chapter or so done because that's pretty much the base, and from that point on it should be very easy to just keep writing from there. And now I'm starting to get myself in the habit of writing in the morning rather than at night and then getting in a couple hundred words here or there during my lunch and breaks at work. So here's hoping I can keep this up. *crosses fingers*
Also, for anybody who's curious what it's about:
So, okay, when I said I blame Buffy and Supernatural for this, here's why. The inspiration comes in two parts:
-- Charlie and Kat from SPN. Teenage girl characters who kicked ass and were interesting for the short amount of time we got to see them. There's all this fic out there where the people the Winchesters have saved over the years go fight monsters and demons and whatnot after being rescued, and this is sort of like that.
-- Okay, you know that line Joss said about Buffy, about how there's always that blond girl in horror movies who gets attacked by some horrible monster in an alley, and what if the blond girl turned around and kicked its ass? This is like that, except ... well, it's sort of unfair that Buffy's got this huge birthright and magic strength and whatnot. It's a natural advantage, and I wanted to write about somebody in the same boat who has to work even harder at it because she's not "ZOMG THE SLAYER!!!". She doesn't have some big destiny or whatever, and she can trounce that big monster but that's because she trains her ASS off.
That's basically the general gist of it, though. It may need a bit of tweaking here or there, but right now that's what I've got to work with.
