I look at it this way - the only voters she really has locked down are the teabaggers, and while she's trying to court the moderate conservatives and the independents, Obama (or whoever the Dem candidate is) can hit her over and over again with her cutting and running away from her job as a backwater governor before even finishing one term, lack of real experience, ties to religious nutjobs, ties to teabaggers, and general idiocy.

She may get a hefty percentage of the vote, but no way can she win.

Matt Taibbi had a pretty convincing post about how we can surmise that she doesn't have the Washington Republican inner circle actually behind her or they'd actually have decent PR working for her instead of whatever ludicrous circus is going on now, so there's that, but still.

Of course, I believe McCain and Palin weren't actually running to win anyway, and 'they' wanted Obama to win so they could spend 4 - 8 years blaming everything on him and forcing him to clean up their messes to the extent that was even possible (and that certainly is what's happening), so.... I'm pretty mistrustful and semi-paranoid sometimes. :D

I think that was their "If we don't win" strategy all along. Every party does it - that's the thing about being the party in power. You're the ones who take the blame.

Still - we have 3 more years and Obama seems to be starting to wise up and remember that he can't ever stop campaigning. I know we're a nation of idiots, but I can't give up hope.

Yeah, I was after all surprised he was elected, even though I volunteered for the campaign. I never wanted to get overconfident.

We also need people to realize that showing up and voting for Obama is not enough. Other elections still go on and just because Obama isn't in them doesn't mean they're not important. That's one of the biggest problems I'm seeing right now, and I'm certainly not perfect in that regard either.

Oh, I definitely agree there. Most of that is a general lack of knowledge about how government works anymore. Americans don't know jack about civics - they don't realize that Obama still has CONGRESS to contend with, and he can't automatically pass laws from the White House to make their lives easier. I know so many people who supported Obama and are mad at him now because he hasn't hand-waved their problems away. We really need to do something about civics education in this country. -_-;;

That SNL video was just the icing on the cake. Ever since I heard about the "incident" I've been absolutely disgusted. The brother of the inspiration for Ari freaking Gold shouldn't have to apologize for that bullshit.
