Here is a link to the feedback section of the CW's website.

If, say, you were offended by something in last night's SPN. Like, oh, any particular line of dialogue.

And upon waking, I realized what really aggravates me is that I'll bet any amount of money that in the script the line is written, "On a good day, you get to kill a Whore." Capital letters don't really translate to speech like that, Julie Siege. *eyeroll*

I commented. It won't do any GOOD, but it was cathartic.

I just, ugh. I'm sure there's people who are very eloquently talking about how problematic that line and the episode in general was, but I'm just too fed up to even go read what anyone is saying at this point.

Yeah, I TOTALLY missed that line. AUGH.

It's like, show delivers awesome, show fucks itself up with stupid. You apparently can't have one without the other. THIS TRADE IS NOT EQUIVALENT, KRIPKE.

See, I feel like if they had just left the character of the Whore of Babylon alone, it would have been fine. The writers didn't name her, it's Biblical, and she wasn't sexualized. You can argue misogyny in the name, but that's the church's fault, not the writing staff's.

Where it falls apart for me is in the episode title and from Dean responding to the name like a two-year-old who just learned a bad word.

What really pisses me off is Julie Siege wrote the episode. A woman wrote that episode. A woman wrote that line and gave it to the hero.

I also believe I made a crack in my feedback about how of course Dean went to see Lisa at the end of the episode, because every woman who's ever had a more significant part in the show has been killed off.

It almost seems at this point like they do it just to spite the fans. I mean, seriously, do they really not THINK about how this stuff sounds? Augh.

given how obviously the show has tried (and failed) to pull in that all-important 18-35-year-old dude demographic over the years, i've come to the conclusion that yes, they do do it just to spite the fans. they don't particularly like the ones they have, see.

Honestly, I could have even handled it if the line had been "the" Whore instead of "a" whore. Still wouldn't have been okay with it, but I'm not okay with a lot of Dean's actions right now.

Devil's Advocate (pun not intended): Dean is supposed to be all sorts of crazy right now.

Oh at no point am I saying is he behaving out of character. That's the really uncomfortable part - outside of the whole semantics/misogyny discussion, I think Dean is behaving *perfectly* in character given the makeup, the upbringing and everything he's been through up until this point.

I even understand the whole Lisa thing - it makes perfect sense to me for the character.

Doesn't mean it's sane, sensible, or something I have to like. But, give me character growth from it or pretty, pretty angst, and all will be well eventually.

I actually think this is exactly what's happening because the people involved with the show seem to think all the female fans hate the women on the show, and I believe it was another meta comment. They just lobbed the grenade into an ally's tent.

See, I really hope you don't get upset with me (you seem like the type of person who is cool with all opinions as long as they are not forced down your throat), but I didn't find the line offensive. I knew that he was talking about The Whore of Babylon, and not women in general. I'm not a huge feminist, but there are somethings that will get me going, but I guess I just never see Supernatural as misogynistic, I just see it as the girls on the show got bad luck.

What really aggravates me? If they'd gone on calling her the False Prophet instead of confusing that Revelation character with the Whore of Babylon, there would be no problems.

...well, no more than usual. Thanks for the link, by the way, I needed to throw that fit.

I have this rule where no character is responsible for what Julie Siege is making them do. Especially Dean, who seems to lose about forty IQ points whenever she writes him, and all traces of a moral compass.
