I may have to wait to mail them out until tomorrow morning before work, because right now the hotline for my bank account is saying I have all of four bucks in there. I've been known to see deposits pop in there once the bank opens at nine, though, so we'll see. But my Wegmans paycheck should be in my bank account tonight as of midnight, so they'll definitely go out tomorrow morning if they don't go out today.

And if anybody is still interested, I still have DVDs left to sell. I'm getting a credit card again sometime in the next week -- FINALLY -- but a.) it only has a three hundred dollar limit and b.) I don't plan on even touching it if I can help it. It's coming with me to DC just in case, but afterward it's going directly into my dad's safe only to be used in case of any more car troubles.

This post sums up every problem I have with all of this stupid "Ground Zero Mosque" bullshit.

Well, except for one thing -- since there is already a mosque three blocks away from Ground Zero and has been since 1970, and we can't have a mosque anywhere near Ground Zero (my word, the horror!), even though it's entirely possible that some of the Muslims who died in the Towers worshiped there, we will of course be tearing that one down ... when, exactly?

Also, the "We didn't build a church in Hiroshima after we bombed it!" BS makes me want to punch a nun. There were churches in Hiroshima. Then we flattened Hiroshima. Now there are churches in Hiroshima. People didn't INFLATE the fucking churches. They're not bouncy churches, for crying out loud. Oh, and way to conflate "Americans" with "Christians." Oh, and ALSO, we built a Japanese cultural center a twenty-minute drive from Pearl Harbor. Granted, that wasn't until the early '90s, but we're not seriously going to have to wait fifty years for these people to grow some common sense, are we?

UGH. How is this even an issue?! Haaaaaaaaaaaate.

You might need to use the credit card to make small purchases on like a monthly basis. The credit card companies are pulling this crap where they cancel a card for lack of activity on the account, with no warning. We lost an 'emergency back-up' like that.

I'll have to check on that. I can always just go pick up a Pepsi on a lunch break once a month to even it out if need be.

I think you're amazing. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

the fact that people actually living on manhattan approve of (or, probably more precisely, don't give a shit about) cordoba house is what makes me want to slap the protesters. 355 days out of the year new york city is the great un-american satan, but when a moderate cleric wants to build a rec center, it's holy ground? gtfo.

I find the thought that they will grow common sense *in fifty years* to be excessively optimistic.

On the positive side, it's more likely that in fifty years they'll be *dead*, and all we have to do to keep them from recurring is help their offspring to grow up into human beings.

Amen to that. I'm really sick of the bullshit making "Muslim" synonymous with both "Middle Eastern" and "Terrorist." And I'm sick of the bullshit that equates "freedom of religion" with "freedom to be a Christian and have that religion forced on you if you want to be called an American."

Ugh, don't get me started on the mosque thing. I'm well and truly pissed at Obama for the way he backed off supporting it - have some freaking guts, man. It's a strange and sad day when Michael Bloomberg makes a moving and inspirational speech on a subject while the President waffles around trying to avoid controversy.

It's a friggin' Muslim version of the 92nd Street Y. Grow up, Islamophobic asshats.

But you can be so many different types of Christian! Lutheran, Episcopalian, or Presbyterian, all are welcome here in America. (I have, no joke, seen actual modern writings on freedom of religion that implicitly come to that.)

All of the above. With sprinkles.

The "bullshit meter" post is also made of massive win.

Ah, so "freedom of Christianity" it is then. :-)

One thing I keep telling people is that it's not a mosque, it's a YMCA (except not C), and if it were a mosque that'd be a good thing - anyone of any religion can be a patriot but it's a lot harder to love a country that whips on your religion.

Americans lead by example. See what a great example we set of fear and prejudice!

Nagasaki was (and is) the most Christian city in Japan. The bomb was dropped right near the city's major cathedral. How sad to see people being so deliberately ignorant.
