In other words, I had my first creative writing class today! And this is what I wrote.

Haiku #1

Abandoned market
Each time I hear a siren
I hope it's on fire.

(There's an old supermarket across from my apartment. It is an unbelievably ugly eyesore, and I really do wish it would burn down or be hit by a meteor or something.)

Tickles as it walks
on my palm, long legs in a
tarantula dance

(He gave us a bunch of prompts for something else to write, and one was to pick a bumper sticker we've seen and go from there. I saw this bumper sticker the other day.)

God Doesn't Believe In Atheists

I will never win a football game
or pose with my polished new Grammy.
I won't ever be the President
Because Santa doesn't believe in me.

So much for winning Miss America
or dressing up my Oscar like Barbie
I've given up my dreams to live on TV
Since the Easter Bunny doesn't believe in me.

I wanted to win myself a Heisman
A Pulitzer, a Nobel, the lottery.
But that's not going to be my goal anymore
Because the Yeti doesn't believe in me.

Say goodbye to my friends and acquaintances
Wave a hearty farewell to my family
I guess I'll pop out of existence now
Since God doesn't believe in me.
