I can't picture DeNiro in a superhero movie either. He's too serious. Superhere characters have to have a certain amount of mirth and be able to make fun of themselves and the world that they exist in. I don't think he's capable of that. I think the closest he's even been to any kind of fantasy would be Frankenstien's Monster, and we know how well that worked.
