kate was supposed to be the love-interest, but test audiences did not like the film *gasp* and so jocelyn was rewritten as "not" bad, rufus sewell did not get her as originally intended, and heath got the boring wench in the end.
the same was the reason for including queen etc. into the soundtrack. mediaval lute music lulled everyone to sleep, so a booming rock-song was added, just like beethoven added his drum rolls, to occasionally wake up the viewer.
