You know how bands and artists pick their best songs for a "Best Of..." CD, well, that's how this works. Choose ten of your best fanfics (or fanart or original works or photographs). List them and explain why they're your best.
Okay, here goes ...
1. Feed Me to the Tabloid Monster -- (X-Men Movieverse) Hee! I got Bobby pregnant! Anybody who knows me knows I love Bobby Drake. Movieverse, comicverse, cartoons ... I'll take him anyway I can get him. And I got to knock him up. By aliens. Then for the ultimate in indignities, I let him wake up naked on top of Logan and have his stomach fondled by Hank. I'm really mean, but at least I got him laid. :)
2. 'Cause Islands Are A Girl's Best Friend -- (X-Men/Pirates of the Caribbean) Okay, so it's unfinished, and I swear I'm going to finishor else
wal_lace has permission to throttle me unconscious. But I'm pretty proud of what I do have done, considering I love slash but never really have the nerve to write it.
3. An Invincible Summer -- (Terminator/Highlander) I always tend to write romantic stuff as being sweet and funny, so I had way too much fun writing a relationship that rough and dirty and hard. Well, not too hard, because Sarah Connor and Joe Dawson really, really wanted to have sex with one another. Those horny bastards. :)
4. Friday Night Drinking Games -- (Jake 2.0/X-Men) Jake Foley is a sweetheart, and not enough fic gets written about him. (Especially now that they canceled my dead, nanite-injected show. *grumblegrumble*) This is one of my favorites, though, because I didn't realize how well he and Rogue fit together until I put them in a bar and let them banter.
5. The Xavier Mansion Diaries -- (X-Men Movieverse) The events of X-Men and X2 as told in a Bridget Jones format. Hey, someone had to do it. :)
6. Ghost in the Shell -- (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with a little Angel) If I didn't put this on a list of my better fics, people would kill me. I love this one just because I got to take Faith and Buffy and really have a lot of fun pointing out their faults at the same time I got to have fun with their good points.
7. An Ordinary Boy -- (Buffy/Angel) A co-worker and I got bored one night right about the time that Holtz disappeared with Connor and came up with this theory. I adore this theory. I will always adore this theory, even though there's no bloody way they ever could have used it.
8. Look Who's Perfect Now -- (Buffy) Before there was the Pairing List That Ate Fandom, I wrote this. And promptly scared the hell out of myself. Yay, fun. :)
9. I'd Kiss You, But I Just Washed My Hair -- (Buffy/Angel) I'm a Spuffy fan, and if you didn't know that, you haven't been here long. But I still have enough perspective to realize that Angel and Buffy had something serious, even if I did think what they needed was some serious, mature, un-romanticized closure. So I wrote this. And again, with the knocking people up.
10. The Opposite of Sibling Rivalry and The Nightmare Fighter -- (X-Men Movieverse) My little brother and I never fight. I mean, never. My mother brags about it. So when I watch X2, I tend to feel more sympathy for Ronnie than anybody else I know. I know my little brother well enough to know how any little brother could get to that point ... even if we don't ever fight. (No, really.)
EDIT: I'm going to have to do this variation suggested by
dhaunea later, too ... You know how bands and artists pick their best songs for a "Best Of..." CD, well, that's how this works. Choose ten favorite authors and their best fanfics (or fanart or original works or photographs). List them and explain why they're your best. It's going to take a while to list and find my favorite fics.

Oh - I like the 10 best fics/authors variation but that would require much research - Hmm.

Date: 2004-10-29 01:09 pm (UTC)Now, we just thought of Sawyer reading Watership Down. We were rusty on the plot so we googled it and look what came out of the results:
PLOT
The story plot is a journey which takes the rabbits from a place where they are in danger to a place where they can live in safety. Two major subplots are the discovery of the secrets of the tame warren and the journey to Efrafa and back.
As with most journey stories, the most important lessons are those that are learned on the journey itself. The rabbits have a tremendous amount of learning to do for an 8 mile trip. They have to learn when to trust and when to be suspicious, how to find unexpected friends, how to be examples of leadership and courage. They have to learn how to contribute to the overall welfare of a balanced society, even when it means doing something that would not usually be expected of them. They also have to learn to separate appearance from reality. The experiences of the journey equip the rabbits to survive, not only under the leadership of the talented Hazel, but also on their own, not unlike a father image, perhaps. Hazel and his closest advisors set an example of courage and persistence that will enable younger rabbits to leave the new warren and eventually build their own warrens.
Interesting stuff especially when you think it's also got a 'general' and two tribes ;)
