... their list of theories about what's going on on the island is the standard stuff I'm used to seeing, except for my favorite new one, which is A catastrophe has thrown the world upside down and killed the entire population, save for these survivors. Who the hell do I have to sleep with to make certain that's the real one? Because, seriously, anybody who knows me and read that article had to be thinking, "TP would LOVE that theory!" ;) (I'm still dead set against the "They're all dead" theory, mostly because I've yet to see it set out in a way that explains the deaths of the air marshal and the drowning victim.)

It goes to show how much Shannon/Boone fanfic I've read (hey, it's Lost fic, I'll read it) that when Ian said that some of the actors only get a two-syllable word to explain their character's background, my immediate thought was not that his word was "brother", but that it was "incest". *eye roll*

Dom's crack about he and Matthew getting weird looks in the airport because now they're associated with taking down a plane? Okay, that's morbidly amusing. :)

Oh, and the spoilers! (Well, the ones I liked, anyway.)

-- Locke makes a huge discovery. Again? Okay. He does that a lot. :)

-- Someone will build a raft to escape. I'm guessing Sayid, but it could still go a couple other ways.

-- We'll ... learn two secrets about Hurley. Really?! YAY! Give that man a backstory and a plotline, posthaste!

Okay, now to go watch my tape of TAR. ;)

Hell, it took me a couple of episodes to realize that they were siblings, not a couple.

I think there was an episode of "The Twilight Zone" or "The Outer Limits" or some such, but I seem to recall a story like this that had the "everybody's dead" scenario, and those in the group who "died" were simply being resuscitated in the real world. Or something.

Personally, I'm rooting for the catastrophe... :)

I know. I have two theories about what their big secret is, and one of them is the incest angle. (The other is that Boone really is gay, which should make all of the Jack/Boone shippers happy, although I don't know what the hell Shannon's problem is.)

I always root for the catastrophe. :) And if those people were the last people on earth, I'd approve, even if that did mean Kate would have to help rebuild society. (Ugh.)

Jeez, I'd hate to see what kind of society they'd end up with if it was only them to rebuild it...

"Lost" fits fairly well into the whole catastrophe scenario, though, so while I'm not really holding my breath that's what the writers will do, it feeds into a whole bunch of fanfic possibilities...

I think the thing that feeds my fanfic possibilities is the interview Paul Dini did with AICN where he referenced all the characters as reflective of the characters in "The Stand". Thanks, Paul Dini, for referencing my favorite book and feeding me massive amounts of plotbunnies.

Great. Now I want to go to the airplane crash websites and see if I can figure out how the hell the plane was brought down from the description of the crash.

Oddly enough, I was thinking more of "The Langoliers" regarding that image of the plane survivors being the only people left in the world...

Which makes Claire the Molly Ringwald character, but Charlie's more like Larry (if I'm recalling correctly -- it's been a few years since my last reading or viewing) than Stu Redman so that has me wondering.

SHANNON as Stu's girlfriend. Why did I say Claire?

Because you were right the first time. Claire's the pregnant one. Shannon's SnickerBitch (tm [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda)

I'm not going with the "they're all dead" theory because I seem to remember reading that Dini already laid out a few ground rules, namely:

A) The critter in the jungle isn't a dinosuar
B) The island is real, i.e. they're not dead, this isn't a pocket dimension, it isn't all in one of the character's imagination, etc.

I really hope they're not all dead because for me, that's the equivalent of the "it was all a dream" scenario which makes me feel like I've wasted my time caring about the show to beging with. But I do have a theory for if they pull out the "they're dead" thing to explain how people on the island can still die: The island is purgatory (that's not a new one), and when people die, God's decided if they're going to heaven or hell so they don't have to wait around anymore.

I checked my inbox for comment replies right before heading for lunch and pondered this on the way out the door. I think my name issues stem from A) low blood sugar, B) not having seen any eps for the past two weeks or discussed them in almost that long, but especially C) a lack of distinctive names for the characters. Except for Sayid, Sun and (to a certain extent) Hurley, everyone's got a bland generic name. I read these discussions and too often if the context doesn't make it abundantly clear we're discussing the hobbit junkie rockstar or the cute pregnant chick or the spoiled bimbo who really should have been the one killed to prove this isn't some beach vacation (aka, the female half of the Incest Duo, both of whom tend to make my eyes glaze over anyway), I tend to have to pause and try to match the name to the character.

And I'd ask what SnickerBitch refers to but it's talking about one of the Incest Duo so I just don't care.
