Mar. 17th, 2005 11:21 amSo yesterday in that five-questions meme,
tenebris asked me what I wanted to happen on Lost. And since I'm deprived of new episodes just like the rest of you, I thought I'd pose the same question to you guys -- in all seriousness, what would you like to see happen to all of the characters on Lost? (And no jokey "Sayid has sex with everybody on the island!" answers. Tell me what you would do in the long and short run with the show if JJ Abrams suddenly showed up at your house and handed you the reins to the entire plotline.)

Date: 2005-03-17 05:14 pm (UTC)Now why would you think that's a jokey answer?
Fine, I'll behave.
I'd like to see a really original, complex, and all-around awesome explanation for all the weirdness in the island. They've been teasing us with hints for so long, the payoff had better be worth it.
More Sun, and more Jin, though not necessarily together. I like both characters enough to want separate storylines for them.
I'd like to see Sawyer interacting with someone besides Kate or Jack. Extra brownie points if that someone is Sayid.
I want some heavy-duty angst. Characters being forced to make tough decision. Lines being crossed. Kind of like what we're currently getting, but more of it.
I'd love to see an episode from the perspective of someone NOT in the credit. I'm really curious by how Jack etc appear to someone not in the middle of it.

Date: 2005-03-17 05:29 pm (UTC)Also, I'd like some actual cult action from Locke, and Walt should magick up some creepy looking kids to hang out with. (I'm thinking twin girls in frilly dresses.)
Then at the end of the whole series, we find out that Walt and Locke were the only actual survivors of the crash, but they don't look anything like the characters that played them during their combo hallucination package.

Date: 2005-03-17 05:55 pm (UTC)More with the whispers in the jungle would be cool, especially if it helped to make a greater connection between Sawyer and Sayid.
Rousseau should make at least one more appearance. I would like it if the character was built up more, in particular if she was made as sort of the direct opposite of Locke's character.
I have no particular dislike of Jack and Kate, but I agree with most in that they take up too much screen time. Fix that next season - they have had their flashbacks; give them more character development by showing us what they do as time passes.
Make Sawyer bisexual, and not at all uncomfortable about it. Have Claire breastfeeding her child. Have at least two of the characters have sex.
I would also have them end the show after six seasons, and plan the plot and pacing accordingly. And do not have a cop-out of an ending; give us one that people will be talking about for years to come because of sock-rockability, not stupidity.

Date: 2005-03-17 06:46 pm (UTC)After that, every other episode would be about Sawyer. He'd be partially or fully naked in lots of said episodes, and when I say 'lots', read that as 'all'. All the leftover episodes would involve random moments of suspense intermixed with Charlie being snarky/cute, Hurley throwing out one-liners that make me giggle, and Sayid oozing sexual tension with whatever I damned well feel like(Sawyer would be choice, but I'm not adverse to Shannon, Charlie, Boone, Hurley, Michael, Locke, Walt, Vincent, the plane wreckage, trees, sand, water, and oxygen atoms).
Sorry, you were expecting plot?

Date: 2005-03-17 07:24 pm (UTC)herodoctor on-call. Maybe have the mechasaur eat him, maybe have his father's ghost/zombie/perfectly-alive-and-confused-as-shit self do something to get them both killed, something. Or, ooh, Shannon could do something that results in him getting offed, and thusly face the reality that they are So Screwed, and begin adapting to life on Gilligan's Isle.Kill off Michael. I love Michael and all, but I want to see Walt interacting more with the others on the island without getting reamed for it - more backgammon games of mystery and mind-wicky with Locke, some golf with Hurley, hang out a lot more with Sun now that they can actually talk to each other, maybe drop him on Charlie's doorstep as somebody who really dug You All Everybody and give the poor guy a bit of a pick-me-up that way. Also, I want Michael's actor to be free to do lots of voice-work for my newest piece of crack, The Matrix Online, and I love interactive crack like it as much as I do puzzley crack like Lost.
Locke giving boar hunting lessons. Teaching people (Boone!) how to skin them so that they can start loading up on things like.. say.. blankets, and construct some sturdier shelters, and stuff. (Sawyer would have to steal some boar skin and make a loincloth out of it just so Kate could roll her eyes at him, he could argue "What? IN THE WIIIIIILD," and run off to do a really terrible Tarzan impression, because it would amuse the shit out of me.) Jin giving fishing lessons (and learning to speak a bit more English... maybe Sayid could teach him? He's too.. him, to ask Sun for help now).
Locke adopting Hurley as his next Pet Project and taking him to The Door o' Mystery, where Hurley spazzes out about the numbers and TEH HATCH OPENZ AT HIM ZOMG NUUUUU. I have.. no idea what would be inside, so that would have to be a season-ending cliffhanger so I'd have time to think of something suitably rockin'. Maybe it's an abandoned military installation stocked with food, clothing, weapons, batteries (!!!!), and other such happy essentials. Huge and catacomb-y and maze-y, and the castaways could lead expeditions down there to try and learn shit. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket. And NO ETHAN CLONES. That's what The X-Files would do, and I refuse to walk down that path, man. Reeeefuse.
Eventually, while exploring the island, two seperate groups would locate two different locations - the black rock, and a white rock. Cut to Locke playing backgammon with Walt.
More Hurley and Danielle scenes. Introduce her to Shannon. Have her wig out a little upon meeting Locke, insist he's 'sick', and flee only to be pursued by the mechasaur almost immediately upon vanishing from view. Leave her survival a mystery for a while, 'til I figure out what's more dramatic.
Charlie and Sun deliver Claire's baby, which is small and beautiful (if kind of gross until cleaned off, because, well, birth) and perfectly normal. Claire raises child with the help of her fellow castaways, primarily Charlie because the Good Ship MUST NOT SINK, with Locke showing a particular interest to the baby's upbringing and good health. Baby eventually begins to show hints of going to the same school of Make Birds From My Book Slam Into Doors In Order To Get Some Fucking Attention Goddamnit that Walt did. Creepy music ensues. Just for the added 'Wuh?' Factor, have her name the baby Alex.
Before series' end, possibly right before the final two episodes, devote an hour to the other miscellaneous castaways. I want to learn more about Steve and Scott, about the guy who got sucked into the engine, about the pilot - everybody. End the episode following Vincent around.
Man, I know I'm forgetting something.. booger.

Date: 2005-03-17 08:29 pm (UTC)2.Have Sawyer be either less of a jerk or more interesting
3.Make somebody on the damn island get laid
4. Claire having her baby, with minimal creepiness
5. Hey remember Rose?
6. More Hurley
7. Prove that Lock isnt evil
8.Jack or Kate need to die

Date: 2005-03-17 08:40 pm (UTC)2) Introduce more women, so it's not all about Kate.
3) Have a total batshit-crazy never before seen castaway. Then have flashback on how they sunk into insanity on the island.
4) LOVE the idea of an island flashback from a never before seen castaway to see how the main cast looks.
5) Claire have her baby and name it Charlie. I am so all over this woobie idea I can't stand it.
6) Message in a bottle, anyone? Let's be practical here. Better than doing nothing.
And just generally find out something about the island -- open the hatch, find out where the polar bears come from, what the monster is, ANYTHING!

Date: 2005-03-17 09:35 pm (UTC)2. LIVE, BOONE, LIVE!
3. Kate, you go play with Sawyer. Jack, you go play with the polar bear. No. Jack, as boring as he is, doesn't deserve to die. He's a nice guy under all that boring and he's gone through enough shit. He needs to find a redshirt girl or boy and go be happy with them.
4. SHOW ME SOME SHELTER PLANNING, DAMMIT! You have hostiles in the jungle and you're telling me no one has talked about building a fence? Are you all retarded? There are trees! Make a fence! Assign lookouts! TELL PEOPLE WHAT'S GOING ON! Why can't they be a fully-functional jungle society.
5. More Locke, please.
6. Kill Michael and have Locke raise Walt. I like Michael, but his character doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Besides, crazy kiddo needs to have crazy father figure.

Date: 2005-03-17 11:45 pm (UTC)1) Please don't kill Locke. Or, if he must go, have him go in suitably shamanistic way, i.e. giving his life to the island in exchange for someone else's. Am really enjoying Locke as the island's avatar; really think that, in some ways, the island has posessed him since his encounter with Angry!Giraffe in the jungle.
2) Continue to play up island-as-entity figure. I really love this sort of whacked out Gaea hypothesis here, so let's keep working with it!
3) Working on the idea that the island is an entity itself, the hatch is then the leftover remains of Vietnam era experiments in radioactivity/crazy quantam sciency math stuff. Which woke the island up! (Am firmly into island-as-alien being concept, apparently.) Numbers thus broadcast from the island in attempt to either a) communicate or b) attract, like unto a Venus Fly Trap sort of thing. Using the numbers results in skewed probabilities, leading the unnatural luckiness of users, but furthermore causes "probability gap" leading to unluckiness of non-users. (And also insanity, in many cases.)
4) Or, since getting into island-as-alien-entity concept--it's actually two entities! One which works through Locke and Rousseau as "good," other which infects people, driving them mad, and causes manifestations of Angry!Giraffe in the woods. Walt, it'll later turn out, is going to be used by second entity. DARKNESS!
4a) That last word means nothing, just seemed appropriate to add.
5) Continue Michael/Jin "friendship," with language teaching classes on both sides.
6) Jack should have more ghostly encounters with Dad. First ones were result of "white" entity, but these will be result of encounters with "black" entity. These could kill him, or could forcibly remove stick from ass.
7) More Kate/Sun interaction, since Sun somehow makes Kate seem human. Wouldn't mind the girlsex here, but really want it more because I feel that these two characters could make each other confront past demons (father issues for both, ya know).
8) More Sawyer/Sayid, especially in reaction to the voices. Want to see boy's own camping trip with them, possibly to search for the black rock. Will not find black rock, but will be a marvelously fucked up time anyways.
9) More Hurley/Rousseau! Would also like to see Hurley be the first to encounter the Black Rock. Also want to see Hurley's reaction to the hatch; would not mind having him be first to encounter that, either.
10) Keep on sailing, S.S. Charlie Loves Babymomma. Claire also needs to smack Charlie upside the head about priorities.
11) Really quick...want to see more about characters outside the leads...want unusual interactions (the Charlie/Sayid, Claire/Locke was good, but there should be more of this sort of thing!)...Hurley coming into his own more...whoever said Claire should name the baby "Alex," I heart that idea a lot!...want more on the dual nature of the island...want more Rousseau...want Sayid to breakdown at some point...and also have sex with Shannon...and whoever else he wants...think Boone's gonna die...and that's it. I think. :)

Date: 2005-03-18 01:20 am (UTC)2) Give the characters Creepy Dreams.
3) Somebody said have a new character have flashbacks about going insane on the island, and I like it. I would think it'd be cool to have an outside character have flashbacks on how their friend/person close to them went slowly insane while on said Island.
4) Breakdowns. Definetly breakdowns.
5) SHELTERS, PEOPLE. Are you INSANE?!
