There is an [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon request I want so. Fucking. MUCH. *begs Santa, the Easter bunny, and the Tooth Fairy*

Sorry. I just had to get that off my chest. :)

(See? This is why I'm not supposed to look anymore. And I'm not writing it anyway just because I want to cross my fingers and hope I get lucky. Which won't happen, because, seriously ... me get lucky? BWAH.)

EDIT: What does this say about those of us who can't wait until we get in the point of writing something where we can whip out the red pens? Does this make me some kind of literary sadomasochist?

OTHER EDIT: You know, I wonder if it counts as TAR prep that I can lift fifty pounds without too much of a problem anymore because of this job. :)

WTF? When'd we get so damn touchy feely that teachers can't even use red pens to correct papers anymore?

Parents should worry about more important things going on with their kids than the color ink used to correct papers. Christ. This country keeps doing down, down, down. Goodbye America! *waves*

Mostly, it says that some parents need to get a frickin' clue. The think red ink is what's preventing little Timmy from learning? Dear lord.

You gotta hate love the fact that it's the color ink that bothers them and not what gets them that much red ink in the first place. *sigh*

What does it say about me that I inserted (ahem) an "i" into the word "pens"?

There's a reason we're home-schooling Da Boy.

Well. More than one reason. But every time I see a story like this, it reinforces the decision.

No. They think that the red ink is sending nefgative reinforcement to poor little Timmy's sensitive self image. After all, self esteem is the most important thing EVAR!!!!!1!!1! Just in case you didn't know.

Of course, the interesting thing is that long-term educational/psychological studies have found that extremely high self-esteem is actually counterproductive in the adult world. Essentially, we're training these kids to be self-centered egomaniacal jackholes that no-one wants to deal with. In addition, when they encounter true hardship for the first time, they typically break down horribly since they have absolutely no idea how to deal with it.
