So I've been killing time going through the Scranton Times classifieds looking at apartments.

HOLY CRAP. I forgot how cheap everything is. Not that it's going to be easy considering how I still have to get a vehicle from somewhere, I don't have apartment-type stuff, and the only furniture I own is a butterfly chair, but still.

Three hundred and fifty bucks a month? Daaaaaaamn. I have definitely been living in VA too long. *shakes head*

EDIT: For old time's sake, I'm watching Passions. BWAHAHAHAHA. This is so idiotic. And did everybody spew out offspring when I wasn't looking? I mean, I know kids are a big thing on soaps, but Jesus, everybody's held a baby in this episode. (And Chad and Whitney had a baby together? *dies laughing*)

It's about 40/50/60 a day for the rental. You pay gas.

It will probably cost you a little to return it someplace other than DC. I don't know what the closest airport is to Scranton.

But for about $350, you and all your stuff get back there.

I watched during its first season, but got bored and left. I tuned in once a while ago and Theresa had two kids with Ethan or something and was being nutso about handing them over to Gwen.

Heck, I was seeing apartment listings for $275 for one-bedrooms in the classifieds. If I can manage to stay in VA for at least the next two or three paychecks, I won't have to worry about a thing. *crosses fingers*

It's not just where you look but also when you look. I found and moved into my current apartment the week between Christmas and New Years and they knocked off $100/month for the length of the lease (1 year) because they wanted the unit filled before the beginning of the month. In fact, if possible I'd go looking in person at the end of the month rather than the beginning. I don't know your area (obviously), but it can't hurt.

By the way, if my current apartment was listed like houses are, the ad would run like this:

$620/month, 1100 sq.ft, 2-bd, 2-bath, prvt patio, wet bar, fireplace, W/D hookups. Overlooks park. 15 min from DFW airport.

Before we left Arizona for the JOY THAT IS GEORGIA (*cry*), the boyfriend and I windowshopped apartments in a naive hope that we could somehow get jobs with which to pay for them within, oh, a month, as this was, oh, a month before we were to move.

We made the mistake of peeking in at a new luxury apartment complex up the street from our house. OH MY GOD SO SEXY. It was like a super sexy hotel except you LIVED THERE. They'd pick up your dry cleaning, make dinner reservations for you, they had a pool WITH SAND BORDERS SO IT WAS LIKE A BEACH ONLY NOT. And the apartment we looked at was the most beautiful one-bedroom anything I have EVER SEEN. It was small but it didn't *feel* small, it had a fireplace and a gas stove and pretty black marble tiles on the kitchen floor andandand.. and it was a grand a month.

That damn place is always going to be my bar-to-beat. This means, of course, that I'm screwed. :>

To be honest, one paycheck here would pay for first and last month's rent on an apartment in PA and two weeks worth of groceries. Looking at it like that, it's unreal. If I can hold off long enough, I could have enough to get a decent apartment and a used car.

See, now I'm starting to get excited about the whole thing. Of course, at the same time, I'm horribly nervous, because I have no idea how long I'll have to save up before I go back, but still. Going home, going home, going home ... *bounces around the room*

I suppose one up(?)-side to that luxury complex is that now, in Atlanta, I find myself saying "ONLY $800 A MONTH FOR A ONE-BEDROOM?! SIGN ME UP!" until I remember that the job market sucks so much that after five years of job hunting, here and in Phoenix, NOONE HAS EVER HIRED ME. Or the infinitely more hireable boyfriend, for that matter. Not even frikkin McDonald's. What the hell, people. I sincerely do not want to live with my parents forever. *flails wildly*

Now what you're doing is making me want to look at PA. Making a spoiled Arizonan who wants to become a spoiled Californian want to consider becoming a Pennsylvanian takes some kind of super juju. :>

What groceries do you pay for? I didn't see you helping out at all, with anything, while I was around this weekend. You just take what you wish. If you make this much, why do you do so little to help out your present roommates, TP? There is so much you could do, and it is weird, watching you. THe way you operate is shocking. Even my thirteen year old son noticed.

I imagine those on your friends list would be amazed at the true nature of you. THe thing is? I don't think you see it. You are too damn self-centered.
